Snellville , GA – “Elite hockey” is not a new word in the state of Georgia but placing a team in an elite league is. Georgia has had its share of some very good players for quite some time, but until now they've never come together to play for one organization. With many players unknown to the rest of the inline hockey community, the expectations aren't very high. According to posters on some inline hockey sites, some simply “hope they are better than the stingers."
So we will see how it all shakes out for the Georgia Syndicate teams this season. GM/Elite Head Coach Ronnie Williams and Minor Coach Paul Prinzbach have set their rosters, and although there is currently a total of 26 players in the organization, neither team has a player over the age of 25. “In my opinion," said Ronnie "both the minor and elite teams will be competitive in their first AIHL season. Hopefully, we can succeed in introducing elite hockey to the southern masses. I know there's plenty of hockey talent in the southeast - it would be nice to see teams from Savannah , Tampa ,and southern Florida.”
The Georgia Syndicate organization started the season better then expected. In its first festival held the weekend of October 25 & 26 at SGAA Dual Deck Arena in Snellville , Georgia, the elite team finished 5-1 while the minor team went undefeated at 6-0. Also, you can catch The Georgia Syndicate next home festival in January 2009 (during the MLK weekend celebration) at SGAA Dual Deck Arena (Snellville, GA), the only “All Inline Hockey” facility in the Southeast!
