Saturday night in the Ants/Mullisha series, Jim Miller suffered a freak accident in the early part of the first Elite game.
While fighting for a rebound in front of the net, his skate got caught in the side of the net and in the pile he ended up tearing the ligaments in his ankle.
Best wishes for his speedy recovery as he is the heart of the Ants team.

Spoke to him yesterday and he told me the bad news. Here is wishes to a speedy recovery.
Matt what is up with the water up there everytime I talk to him he gets a new injury.
You got to get him fixed up or put him in full body armor before he plays.

I just know Jim through our online bickerings, but anytime something like this happens, it's always a shame. Hopefully the recovery will be quick and painless.
Do you know the end result Matt? How many ligaments, or is there surgery needed, and how long the expected recovery time is? I tore ligaments in my knee in HS and it is never fun.

Hey, thank you all for the kind words.
I don't know how many were torn. I also may need surgery, that is not ruled out yet. They set it in a regular cast yesterday, took x-rays after they set it, and said it should be good, but will find out more in 2 weeks when they change the cast.
It was a freak accident, skate got caught in the net, and in the squable for the puck, my knee went one way, ankle turned the other. Doc said it should be 5-6 weeks, then rehab, so maybe 6-7 weeks gone.
I will say this, I do not know what to do with myself without hockey, it really does take over someone's life, when it is gone you realize what you take for granted day in and day out whle playing.
You guys are all good people and good friends, thank you again for the kind words.

When you have a top notch organization as we do in Hartford it starts with ownership. Jimmy is a class act and a true captain. Get well Jim we need you back on the rink.

Paul- thanks for the kind words.
I have been heating it, not sure if that helps, anyone know? I want to promote the healing process and get back on the rink. I have a heating pad I put on every hour or two for 15 minutes. It is an injury I know that I cannot rush, but I have an appointment not this monday, next monday, which I will get it looked at and get put in a cast that I can walk in. I want to see a good amount of healing, and maybe start working it out. I hear that working it promotes healing as well (without pushing it of course) but not sure with this type of injury. I am also not a doctor, just a stubborn hockey player that will do anything and everything to downplay an injury.

Hey Jim,
I'll add a belated get-well soon message myself, but for ulterior motives... ;)
I was playing ice hockey (for shame!) on Wednesday night and someone fell on my leg, hyperextending my knee (self-diagnosis). I have no health insurance, so I am not going to see a doctor yet... I'm giving it a few days to see if icing it brings down the swelling and I learn (guesswork again) that there is no ligament damage.
Have you or any other IHC readers checking out this post had a hyperextended knee before? If so, how long did it take to come back from it?
