Hi Folks,

Please join me in wishing Dennis Murphy, 82-years-young, a quick recovery from a fall on Saturday in which he broke an ankle and an elbow. Dennis was the co-founder of Roller Hockey International, and a great pioneer in creating the World Hockey Association, the American Basketball Association and World Team Tennis, as well as many other achievements in the world of sports.

I consider Dennis a wonderful friend and I am proud to know him. I can't imagine dealing with such injuries at such an advanced age, but I think Dennis is a stubborn Irishman who will get through this latest challenge.

Dennis: My office at work and my son's room at home are decorated with 1970's era pennants from just about every World Hockey Association team that took the ice. That was one gutsy league you put together and I wanted to say thank you for those wild 1972 - 1979 teams and the effect the WHA had on North American hockey. We all owe you a lot of gratitude and respect for such an illustrious career.

I hope you heal quickly and feel better soon.

I spoke to Dennis today on the phone and he sounded tired but upbeat. He was very pleased to hear your comments and thanks you for your well wishes. Get well soon, Dennis!

I had the pleasure of meeting Dennis back during the Bullfrog days. Glad to hear he is doing better.

Bring back the Murphy Cup :)
