D1:
1. FIU
2. UF
3. ucf
4. nc state
Can go in either order, those teams are both strong. I give the edge to FIU right now because they beat UF.
D2:
1. tampa
2. usf
3. wcu
4. miami
5. fau (fau beats fsu in controversial ending.)
6. fsu
D3:
1. Valencia
Where did BCC go?

i like the rankings but i put uf #1 still and elon has to be somewhere in the top 5 of d2 because they tied miami and only lost to tampa by 1 and i have no clue what happened to bcc

As an update, I talked to BCC, and they have confirmed that they are no longer playing in the league. It's a shame; they have a really good team with a bunch of players I used to play travel with when I was younger; it was great to see all those old friends again.

That sucks about BCC...one because they are an excellent team with a lot of talent...two they are defending d3 national champs and they can't even defend their title...and lastly they show well for the secrhl when they have gone to nationals...

better on ice, your list is bogus if you have FSU over FAU, they beat them this past weekend. Also Miami is 3-0-1 and played some tough teams in the first tournament.

ahh touche, i forgot about FAU, yes they def jump FSU. . . Miami did impress me, theyve added some very impressive players, but i still think they lack a good overall system . . we shall see, i just dont know if you can argue that they are ahead of tampa, Elon, USF, WCU yet. . .

If I had to rank the D2 teams they would go like this:
Tampa(best overall D2 team)
USF(best goaltending in southeast)
FAU(they were missing key players and still had a great opening weekend)
Miami(Addition of two top players...they can beat anyone)
FSU(deep roster of solid players)
Elon(addition of B team will allow better players to be on rink more)
WCU(good squad but playing in North benefits them)
Kennesaw(new fast team but unknown)
College of Charleston (Fritz is one of the best players in Southeast)
any games anybody is looking forward to this weekend with some predictions for them

Division II SECRHL
1.Tampa...Slick offensive team with solid goaltender.
2.USF...Not overwhelming but a smart team top to bottom.
3.WCU...Similar to USF... Best Goalie tandum in DII.
4.Elon...Proven team...Battled Tampa closely in 3-2 loss.
5.FAU...One Tourny...Only beat GT 9-6...Still may be gelling?
6.Miami...Capable of huge offensive output...Defence & Goaltending?
7.FSU...Same as FAU...Not honestly sure here...
8.Kennesaw...Will play anyone close...Can you say sleeper team.
9.College of CC...If they played their top 6 or 7 instead of all 12... Goaltending????
Looking forward to responses. I would say by seasons end the Regional Playoffs will be a complete dog fight... GLOVESIDE

D1 is dominated way too much by the south and those three teams (UF,UCF,FIU) can all beat each other but I think FIU is the best followed by UF.

im a little dissapointed abt this weekend seeing how the top 4 D2 teams will be in Ft Myers, yet they arent all playing each other. This weekend would have been perfect to see who the strongest D2 team really is. Any thoughts?

I agree to..It would be a tough schedule for all of the teams if they had to play each other. I think it would be fun going into every game knowing you have to battle. Not thinking you have a chance scoring 16 goals.

I think will be an interesting match up puting a high scoring team in Tampa against the team with arguablly the best goaltending in the south, USF. I think USF will win 4-2.
Miami and FAU will be another good D2 game, this should be the first time we see FAU with their full roster.

any thoughts from everybody on who the best goal scorer, defenseman, and goaltender in the league of the Southeast D2 division are?
wednthavddr
11-12-2008, 07:46 PM
Top Scorer:
Rowan Porter-UT
Daniel Caudy- USC
Michael Crow- UM(haven't seen play but stats wise)
Matt Lidd- VTech
Drake Fallah- FAU*
Top D-Man:
Jeff Kotcher- UT
Scotty Johnson- UM
Steve "Mooch" Ruhmel- USF
Paul Fritz- CoC
Top Goalies:
Nick Regan- USF
Guy Antonacci- UT
Clark Colosimo- WCU
Phil Diorio- FAU*
Brian Napert-USF*
*Have not played but will make a difference on their teams.
I think this list is pretty solid. Let me know if anybody should be left off, or if any additions should be made.
JewInNet
11-12-2008, 10:38 PM
I agree with most of ur list my only additions are I think Thomas Benton from FSU needs to be included in top scorers, if you look at his stats from the past years and this year he is a top player in the league
For goalies, Brian Napert is the number one goalie in the south, hands down
Also, Phil from FAU actually played all of their games except against FSU. He is good but nothing impressive he will cost he team with his laziness.
rocksforhands
11-12-2008, 11:31 PM
Napert is a very good goalie but the kid who played at Snellville for them was just as good if not better.
FAUplayer
11-13-2008, 12:44 AM
The kid mentioned above from FSU is a very good player, definitely a top player for the division. Also, Steven Beardsell from GT was a good player.
Goaltending, I definitely see USF with the best tandem, and from playing opposite of Reagan for years, I think he is the top in conference (D1 and D2). As far as Phil goes from FAU, he had an off weekend in Savannah, and he will need to bounce back in order to win.
And as far as the schedule goes, it would have been great to have all the top D2 teams play each other; not sure why they didn't have that lined up, and have the D1, B, and B teams play together....

I think most of the fsu players are just solid. they tend to play a lot of northern tournaments and I think overall the south teams are better. It is easier to have more points when you play against weaker talent. I think benton is one of FSU's better players but not at the talent the people I posted. But thats just my opinion, not trying to be a ****.

Didn't you just contradict yourself in that statement? I am not trying to be a **** either...
But you said FSU is not as strong as the S. Florida teams. Ok
You also said FSU plays the "weaker" northern teams in the division. Ok
Then you say that it is easier to score more points when you play weaker teams... This would be true if the "weaker" teams you are playing are "weaker" than YOUR team. Make sense? You only score more points on "weak" teams when the team you are playing on is stronger. You have essentially said that FSU is in the same classification as the northern teams...thus on a level playing field with their opponents. Whatever...now I am just confusing myself! haha
Regardless, Benton is a skilled player. I've seen him cone the best d-men in the league. Put him on UF and I could see a point increase by 20% without a problem.
This is the like arguement who is better Barry Sanders or Emmit Smith? Barry played for a weak team while Smith was winning Super Bowls. How are you defining "greatness"? The success of the team of the skill of the player?
/babbling... :D

Wow...
Think of it this way...What if you take Benton off of FSU and add any of those players I listed? Leave all leadership behind because I know that he is a very good captain to the team..I think the players I listed will put up more points then him on FSU.
This isn't an arguement about who the most valuable player is to their team because I think he is a big part of FSU. This is about WHO IS THE BEST GOAL SCORER and if you think he is better then the kids I listed..well then your just stubborn..
Nobody on this thread may really know me, but when I play I tend to leave whatever happens on the rink, unless somebody disrespects my team or me. I don't have a grudge against him or his team and if you think I do then grow up.

ya wed i would def agree with your list but i think u also have to add chris adams from Elon. with weeks gone look for his goals to jump a considerable amount
Topshelf39
11-13-2008, 05:23 PM
also i think one more has to be added Steve Regan from USF despite his laziness and the fact that one goalie shuts him down time after time. he can really snipe, and his hands r some of the best ive seen.

UT won 6-4 I believe. Very controlled game by USF, but turnovers seemed to hurt, as well as numerous 4-2 powerplays for UT. UT looks very strong.

if anyone was at Ft Myers this weekend, they would have seen that no one could skate with UCF. They beat FIU by a margin of 4 or 5, Valencia, a very strong JC team by 7, and toyed with UTampa it looked like. UF will give them the best game, hopefully they face each other at the next tourney. Judging from this weekend, it looks like UCF will take the Southeast region once again.

I am going to go out on a limb and say either USF, UT, and FAU (maybe even UM still) (how's Elon?) can win on any given day; the games this past weekend were very close, a bounce here or there could have changed either outcomes.
I am confused on how people are writing off USF (losing by 2 to UT and by 1 to FAU. both games very close and a bounce or two could have changed the whole game)....

i agree with you on everything you said..USF has a solid roster top to bottom, losing 3 tough games hurts USF but a team of their caliber will have no problem getting right back into the mix..Elon is a very experienced team with great speed and a few top notch players who can find the back of the net..this year D2 will be able to send 2 or more teams to nationals and be represented well

hahaha..Thanks for not counting USF out. This was a rough weekend for us. Yet again another short bench hurt us. Every game was so close, stupid penalties and crappy bounces just deflated us..I think we let in late goals at the end of a period in all 4 games...You cant win like that. I really enjoyed playing every game this weekend even though we lost most of them. The south is really competitive and deep...
FAU, UT, UM, FSU, Elon, and USF could all have an arguement for winning the region. It will come done to who shows up for regionals. Should be really interesting..
You guys hear something about a lobster ending up in somebodies locker room this weekend? Weird?

No offense, but USF played like they wanted to lose the FAU game. The last 10 minutes of that game was some lifeless hockey from the Bulls, against UM you were given power play after power play and still only salvaged a tie. You are still in it but you got a ton of help to stay in it.
