Is there anyway I can get more Information on the leagues requirments for a Home and Home series vs school close by.
Right now, If I do my math correctly our Conference has us traveling the 12 Hours Back to Snellvile, GA in January.
This would be our 2nd trip there, and we will be traveling without the other half of our team. Considering the last one was not only expensive as far as gas and hotels, but time off and wear and tear on the car, I'd prefer the team stay close to home.
Anyone with information, I thank you.

Driving long distances always sucks...but it comes with the sport I guess. Until we all have budgets that allow our teams to FLY to events.
Why don't you rag on the S. Florida teams and get them to commit to the events in S. Florida so that they don't fold like the Ft. Myers event? (Maybe you already have). With as many teams in S. Florida that are probably in the same "don't want to drive 12 hours" boat, it seems like should be able to get more events down there.

the northern teams bailed on the Ft. Myers event. All the SFL teams were ready to play.

What northern teams? How many teams were willing to play? How many teams do you need to hold an event? I know some other regions run events with as few as 5 teams.
If it was an issue of bringing in refs for "too few of games"...you could all throw in money and put the refs up in a hotel for FAR less than it will cost your teams to make another long road trip. Just a suggestion.

Without getting to names, 6 teams were willing to play in Fort Myers. 2 Schools I couldn't get in contact with.
With what I was told, teams from the north decided Ft. Myers was too far to play, and that they didn't want to pay to play again with such a short time period in between.
This coupled with what the league felt were too many events lead to teams traveling 6-7 hours to play in Savannah, and 13 hours in January to play in Snellville instead of the 2 hours to 3 hours MAX for most teams in Ft. Myers.
What I feel like is that it's complete rubbish.
How can a few teams (2 I suppose) dictate an entire weekend, then have that weekend canceled because of too many events.
What's worse is that the FIU B team must travel to Snellvile again 12 or 13 hours when they could have been squeezed into the Savannah tournament and rode up with our A Team.
(BTW, Thanks Brennen, I already have Ed's address. Thanks again though.)

Seems like the 6 teams could have just played a short weekend. Oh well...
