View Full Version : Visor Repair?
Does anybody know any solution that will help get scratches out of a visor? I tried a couple but nothing seems to work. Not really feeling buying another seventy dollar visor either....

how deep are they?
you can try smoothing them back and filling them using one of those windscreen repair kits, or for lighter scratches you can try Meguairs (the car stuff) scratch-x and plastic polish with microfibre cloths. It'll take some elbow grease but should make the scratches less obvious (or for superficial ones you can remove them altogether)
Toothpaste also makes an OK abrasive agent, but only for the cutting work, you'd want the plastic polish or similar so the final polish is good.
When you work out how much time and effort it'll 'cost' you (and cost of polish stuff if you don't already have it), it is probably cheaper to just buy the visor and be done with it.

Go to your local automotive supply shop and buy the 3 stage lexan cleaner for race cars. It will bring even the worst scatches out and give you an almost new finish. About $20 at UAP NAPA and I have used mine for 3 seasons and enough left for anothr 5.

Toothpaste - swear by it for most normal dings, plus there's effectively no cost to give it a shot. The post about shampoo is part right as well, but that works better as an anti-fog treatment. I'd go the lexan repair route last as it's likely to be more costly and time consuming.
