Inline Hockey Central readers are invited to the 1st Malaysian Inline Hockey Tournament.
Craig Matthew Lee, the captain of the Underdogs inline hockey team of Malaysia, is trying to bring inline hockey back to his country by hosting the 1st Malaysian Inline Hockey Tournament 2009, from February 7-8, 2009.
Teams expected at the event include the Piranhas, a top men’s team from Singapore, the Singapore women’s team, a team from Hong Kong, another from Sabah, Malaysia; the Underdogs Red and Underdogs Blue, and a Malaysian ice hockey Division 2 team. Dwain Macintosh, a FIRS certified referee, will fly down to referee the tournament.
Lee says he’d love to have teams from North America come and participate as well.
“The more the merrier,” said Lee. “This tournament is to open the eyes of the players, the country to the growing strength of inline hockey in Malaysia.”
Lee said that the tournament rules will be very similar to FIRS rules.
Game Time
Two 15-minute halves with a five-minute halftime.
Players and Teams
Four players and one goalkeeper per side.
Minimum of six players per team (including goalkeeper)
Maximum of 14 players per team (including goalkeeper)
Safety
Full safety equipment required:
1. Helmet
2. Knee / Shin Pads
3. Gloves
4. Elbow pads (optional)
5. Skates (Hockey / Recreational)
6. Inline / Ice hockey Stick
