The Ft Myers event is no longer listed on the website for October 18-19. Any information about that?

I just heard it may be canceled a few minutes ago.

I think they r updating the secrhl schedule, because some other tournaments are missing as well

Are you kidding me, if this is cancelled its going to put a lot of kinks in a lot of guys plans who live in and near South Florida.

I'm sure FAU, UM, BCC, UCF and USF as well as FIU will feel disappointed. I for one have alot of family and friends booked for reservations to come see our squad play.

its already hard enough to get people to come watch us play. I mean there are no tournaments within an hour of UM, FIU, FAU, the closest thing is Ft. Myers those tourneys are few and far between. The southfla teams really get the short end of it when it comes to traveling distance, and to cancel one of the tourneys where we dont have to drive to far just sucks.

Petition anyone?

I'd be really upset if this is in fact canceled, as it will just be longer until our FAU team plays our first event, and with this short notice stuff and having to repetitively change schedules, a few of our key players will not be able to attend.

look closely, it was postponed till Jan. They said it was to close to the next ft. myers event in Nov and a lot of teams who actually traveled to snellville didn't want to make the Oct ft myers trip.

yea, so all the southern teams like UM BCC and them had to travel all the way to snellville and dont complain, but the northern teams get what they want? that makes sense

There were three Ft. Myers events.

One October 18-19.
Another November 15-16
And a last in January.

I expect the October one to be rescheduled and actually take place in Ft. Myers.

The Fact this was such short notice is ridiculous.

The teams that backed out knew they would be traveling to Ft. Myers 2 weeks later. What changed between Friday and Sunday?

Yes very short notice. Its terrible, our team has yet to play and it looks like we will only be playing 1 event now this semester.

FORT MYERS is hosting a 4 vs 4 on Sunday November 2,2008. There will be some good teams there. Come on over, it would be a great way to get some hard core skating in. I know for a fact there is a good young team from Tampa and Naples playing it it. FAU,BCC etc... come on over.

This is me voicing my anger and displeasure with how poorly this league is being run. Due to the Ft Myers event being canceled, and being told short notice of having to attend the Savannah event now instead, we have 5 players for Savannah, if we even show. Thank you SECRHL, our team and sponsors are very happy.

Was the event cancelled because the league screwed up? Or because there weren't enough teams to play. If that is the case...is that the league's fault?

If you are frustrated to this extent...by an event cancellation, I suggest you take a deep breath and hold on for the ride. Welcome to college roller hockey.

This is a league run mostly by volunteers with a customer base that has high demands and small checkbooks. Make the most of it and you will have a blast. If you are expecting a "professional product" you might want to lower your standards. This isn't meant to be a knock on the league even if it sounds that way, I am just pointing out that the NCRHA isn't a major corporation run by top level executives making 6 figure salaries. Well, even in that case you might find flaws. Look at the NHL!

That's because the NHL has Gary Bettman! Any league with him his doomed.

I am very much used to how everything is ran with NARCh and TORHS, so my standards are along their lines of expertise. We just want to get our first event over with and we are looking forward to the upcoming Ft Myers event!

Here I was thinking I was a balla and you ruin all my aspirations :p There are few (I can probably count them on one hand) making FIVE-figure salaries - and barely five figures at that. Let's not even get into six.

That said, that's not an excuse for organizational problems, but this one looks like a team-related issue. Tournaments take your money up front before they'll even put you on the schedule - if you drop out, they usually only have to redo the schedule for a few teams. In the case of an NCRHA event, one team dropping can make an event impossible to hold since you're talking about a regular-season schedule that has to stay balanced and involves 18-25 games per team.

There are people making five figure salaries working for the NCRHA?

Comparing the NCRHA to Narch or Torhs or any of the others is not really a fair comparison. They are completely different animals.

kids vs "adults"
rich kids vs broke ass college students
"hockey is life" vs "hockey is a great activity to do before you drink"
business (for profit) vs non-profit (hell, call it a charity! We give enough money lol )
