The season has begun.
Live boxscores are great.
Broward's Daniel Echeverri (true freshman) scored seven goals in his first college game, a 12-6 win over Middle Tennessee State. Six even-strength and one shorthanded. Looks like he's a gamebreaker.

Florida beats Virginia Tech 8-1. Gators score four goals in a 2:08 span in the second period to turn a 1-1 tie into a 5-1 lead.
Rowan Porter scores six as Tampa wins 11-0.
Kennesaw State wins its DII debut 8-2 over James Madison.

No surprise that Porter did so well at Tampa. He was hard to stop in his years at Nassau.

There's no rule in the Southeast to stop games in which a team leads by more than TWENTY goals.....?

There's no rule like that anywhere other than Great Plains, I think.
The game continues with a running clock once the margin reaches 8 goals.

anyone see Tampa's PIM?

There was a rule in the Western League when I played there that if a team was up by 10 goals it would be a mercy but the game had to reach the third period. I don't know if it is still around...

Happens at every level of college athletics.
Happens at every level of college athletics.
Regardless, it seems silly to have a game continue, and continue keeping score, when a team is leading 20-0 at the end of the 2nd period.

This has been brought up numerous times over the year...
But being on both sides of this:

I think it's good the game continues. More often that not, players who get little to no playing time in games that are close get more playing time and the opportunity to have success by keeping the games going.
And the team that is losing is also having the experience to get better against a vastly superior team. If they take anything from the game besides the score it has value in continuing.
Also, its not silly to keep scoring...for some teams its the only competition they get to play all year (meaning no men's league/tournament series) and to do anything less that try to entire games is a waste of valuable rink time. Also, were in college...you keep score. Sure the clock runs, but were all "mature" adults and we can handle it. Those who can't have deeper issues they need to deal with.
Some Examples:
Football:
Georgia Tech beat Cumberland 222-0
Hockey:
RPI beat Hamilton College 21-1
RPI beat Albany 23-0
Mercyhurst beat Scranton by 24 twice.
There are more examples but for sake of space i won't keep listing...
I guess. I don't really see anyone getting much out of the game when it's 20 to 0. In my experience with blowouts, when a team is up 20-0, nobody is battling for the puck in the boards, nobody is playing the body on defense, nobody is skating their hardest. When I'm down 20-0 and I've got the puck an opponents idea of defense is a half-ass, disinterested swing at me as I skate by because they have no reason whatsoever to exert any energy when leading by 20 goals...continuing to play the game isn't helping me at all. I might as well be on the rink by myself. It's like watching a NARCh All-Star game, nobody tries, nobody cares, it's a waste of rink time. In other cases, it's just time for the team getting shellacked to take a run at someone maybe for running up the score more or maybe just because they're mad they're getting beat by 20 goals.
Just my thought. I don't really care that much, I'm not trying to lobby to have a rule instated. I don't plan on getting beat by 20 goals this season or winning by that much so it doesn't personally affect me. Just seems silly to me.

The schedule has been out since last week, just check the site to see who's going.
FAUplayer, I feel your frustration, the league has been poorly run for quite sometime now, but things will work out. I heard you will only be missing 1 or 2 players though, do you guys only have a 7 man team?
