So, what does everyone think about DI this season? I think it's pretty obvious Lindenwood is still #1 and UMSL seems like a pretty easy pick for #2. But who else is good, who else can challenge those teams, and what teams do you think we'll be seeing make the final 8 at nationals this year?

Not gonna lie, its gonna be tough for us to pull out a win this season, but we're gonna come out and fight for every game. Got a couple good freshmen and solid tender. We're gonna have fun, even if it means ruffling some feathers.

What makes UMSL such an easy pick for #2? It's not like we showed up and dominated at Nationals last year. (Long Beach State had a two-goal lead in the third period of our first-round playoff game before Andy Meade and PJ Tallo rescued us.)

Arizona State looks to be pretty solid

UMSL was solid last season. My one regret from nationals was that we never got to play you guys. I think it would have been a good game....if only we'd been on your side of the play-off bracket. But then again, we wouldn't have had that crazy stony brook game.

Hi Jeff,

You're speaking of the "Miracle on Plastic" (trademark, copyright, coined by yours truly), aren't you? ;)

I see UMSL as an easy pick for #2 because you're returning Tallo, Clarke, Meade, Propp, Schulz, and Scott plus adding Gwozdz and Chapman. Plus, I think Endom has got to be the best freshman goaltender in the country, I don't know of any other '87 birth-year freshman goaltenders with NARCh Platinum/PRO experience. Other teams may have given you trouble last year but you still beat Lindenwood and made it to the DI Final. Add Gwozdz and Endom, Tallo returning, some of your big guns in their 5th and final year of eligibility and I think that makes you easy #2 pick.

Speaking of Long Beach though, I definitely give them a lot of respect, I'd place them as #1 in the west and up towards the top nationally considering their additions of Bernad and Anderson this year. They haven't posted a roster so they may have even more improvements, those are just the 2 I know about.

Our Roster is now posted. We also added Ken Yamamoto from the OC BLades along with Paul Anderson and Christian Bernad and 4 other top level players to go along with Burrows, Hackworth, Barney and Huynh from last years team. We are excited about our team and look forward to seeing how the season plays out. Good luck to everyone in the NCRHA this year as it should be an interesting season. By the way we will also be sporting new Jersey's from Ace.

Go West Coast!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you know if you guys are going to come to our AZ tourney in November?

We will be coming to Arizona. Why aren't you guys coming up to San Jose?

Long Beach State

We just couldn't make it work this year. We barely got the program together this year (I've tried the past 3 years and it failed). San Jose is a 13 hour trip for us and it was too expensive and too soon to start our first season like that. We're just going to barely get our act together and be prepared for the season to start in mid-November.

I don't think there is a clear cut #2 at this point in time, but picking UMSL wouldn't be to far from where they are probably going to end up at the end of the year.

I'm still waiting for some teams to post their rosters as well.

I can't wait for this weekend to see what DI looks like in the ECRHA.

From an East perspective...

Buffalo- ECRHA champion, went the furthest out of all the teams at Nationals being demolished by Irvine. Roster not available. Still a strong solid team that played together at State Wars over the summer. Expect nothing more or less from them this season.

Stony Brook- Regular season champion, shocked the college roller hockey world after that heart"brook"ing lost against Irvine. Very small roster this season??? Don't see that undefeated streak happening streak. How do you go in one season with a 11 skaters to 6? Lost Tamburino and other key players from last season. Despite the small roster they're still solid, and should still be a contender in the ECRHA. National Contender is questionable.

Towson- ECRHA runner-up, losing key forward Josh Stein and between the pipes Matt Vensel. Coach Murphy had key pickups during the offseason bringing in forward Brian Wodzisz from the NJ Jaguars great hands and knowledge of the game, hasn’t been talk about much. Still dangerous and a clutch performer. Gonna put it out there but is up there with PJ Tallo (should start some controversy ;) ) As well as bringing in between the pipes Trevor Nau from the Frederick Vipers. Great tender that is always on his toes and will be a key asset to the Tigers success. And like always Ryan Cowdell ECRHA’s point leader of the 07-08. Expect nothing but big things from this squad.

Rhode Island- Disappointment at Nationals this past season after being the runner-up to Lindenwood in the 06-07 season. Losing scoring leader Eriksen will not be a problem for them. Junior Class Nelson, Lundh, Rieger should pick up from last season and give teams a run for their money. With Bord in net should also seal the deal. Played Stony Brook 5 times last season and has the upper hand on them with a game, will we see this rivalry simmer down or continue to boil? Bigger roster with new faces and names should be interesting opening weekend watching the Rams.

Rutgers- Always exciting to watch. Decent showing at nationals. A run and gun team led by the Sniper Robbie Fulton. Fast pace team click well together. Showed they were down for business after giving a Stony Brook a scare at Regionals coming back and receiving a tie. Expect them to be a solid and focused this season for another bid to nationals.
Notables:

Penn State- Hear that they have this new player not sure what his name is that playing for both inline/ice. Expect him to be a threat regardless how hard everyone is saying to switch from one to the other. Small quick team that can be a threat around the net and knows when to finish. Losing Godfrey will hurt a little, but they should be able to regroup and be a threat as well.

Hofstra- After the D1 Debut many thought they were moving back to D2, but Manager AJ Frey has compiled a new system. Bringing in Towson and Stony Brook star James Tamburino as the head coach. With a guy like this that does wonders on the rink… it’s going to be scary to see what he will do when he’s the ears and eyes of the bench. Same roster with some new add-ons. This will be a rebuilding season for them but expect a few surprises from this squad. I see regionals and possibly national contention here.

Let the Games Begin!

seeing how the player comes from my old home rink, i can safely say him in tallo are not even in the same sport....... like comparing the nfl and arena football. not saying he is not a good hockey player but expecting anything more then an even trade for him and stein would be asking way to much

You have to go with the boys from UCI or Tritans from UMSL for clear runners up , next to LU . Both are very much in the hunt but it wont be easy . Fact of the Matter is LU can play Narch pro with a solid goaltender and Tom Bruce in the line up , UCI well we have u know who and what those two are capable of ( tasch / Middleton) and UMSL Tallo / Endom and two lines of solid team players that like we all saw last season they will grind it out untill the end. also that kid from texas with the wheels on him Marty Gwardws or something ......my whole point being form all this is two things everyone else this year will be chasing the top three teams in the standings and on the rink all season and Narch is the greatest roller hockey on earth PERIOD.

I think Charlie Middleton has graduated and no longer attends UCI. They did add Tasch's little brother. Long Beach has added quite a number of Platinum level players also.

Middleton graduated. They'll still be good but you can't replace him. By adding the nation's top scorer in all of DII last year and 2 top players from OC Blades '90, Long Beach State is clearly the team to beat out of the west this year.

i was not aware of middletons decent . but if this is so it only makes the case stronger for UMSL to be college inline hockeys best shot to beat the 7 in a row champions from LU
