View Full Version : AIHL & PIHA teams
Just trying to get an idea of what the leagues are actually going to look like this year...this is the team list for each league based on what I know from teams making announcements here on IHC, team tryout/commitment announcements on PIHA website, and team list on AIHL website.
Teams in PIHA are put into divisions that PIHA.com has said they're playing.
For AIHL, the "west" divides itself easily into 3 obvious divisions. The "east" I just lumped them together because I don't know what exact divisions will look like there...

Long Island 495ers

NJ Nighmare could very well be the philly growl... i know they were contemplating a name change... i could also be dead wrong ... just a thought though
my question is about the suffolk piha and aihl teams. last update was that piha is going to have contracts stating that you can not play in both leagues. So are they going to have 2 seperate teams in one rink representing 2 differnt leagues?

I am pretty sure that they are 2 seperate teams playing out of 2 different rinks. I was told that the Sharks (AIHL) are players fron the Suffolk college team and the Sting (PIHA) was a team from Rapid Fire. Not 100% certain on this but that's what I was told.
As far as playing in both leagues, the AIHL allows it but I'm not sure about PIHA. I could only imagine that it would be tough to play both and be playoff eligible as I would think that both leagues will be scheduling a majority of their games on Saturday evenings.

To dispel any false information that may follow, the Philadelphia Revolution are the New Jersey Nightmare. We haven't officially announced the name change and were hoping to beat the AIHL to the punch.
Our new site is www.nightmarehockey.com (http://www.nightmarehockey.com) and will be up sometime in the near future!

Scheduling will begin over the next week or 2, AIHL has a 10/1 official start, but I believe the majority of the east coast teams are starting 11/1
Actual AIHL divisions have been officially announced; original post edited.

My guess it is a team from Raleigh. The rink used by the Raleigh team last year was the Dream Sports Center.

I am 99% that it is the Assault from last year. Or at least playing from the same rink since the rink the Assault played out of was named dream sports and I know in the past their youth travel teams were called the Dream Sports Dragons.

Does anyone know why the Pittsburgh Bandits are not playing this year? Just checked their website and it said they folded their pro teams. Also, who is playing on the new phantoms team?

It would appear that there are ALOT of team name and ownership changes. Im sure it has to do with the PIHA/AIHL issue.

I count 4 forfeits last year. Do you think PIHA will let them return? Maybe they've addressed whatever issues they might have had and will return.
Steve Inge - ROXBURY 8
On threads on IHC about Marple tryouts they've said they haven't decided on PIHA or AIHL. That was a while ago but nobody has posted since then saying they have decided so I leave them in the undecided column.
And yes Midwest teams are playing, they all are coming back to PIHA.

Pretty sure they will be in AIHL but nothing is cemented. Had a tryout last saturday and had about 24 skaters and a couple goalies. Next saturday the 27th is to be a second tryout. I believe the time will be 1:00. When I get more details ill pass them along

Actually, I heard subsequent to my posting that Marple had tryouts, and that they were on the fence with both leagues. I just hope they have addressed the issues from the last year, with having college players effecting some of their games due to commitment issues, and rink issues- moving the rink times due to bigger and better events. I would love to see them in the league, as they have a good facility, and have good people within their organization like yourself Yokes. Last year, besides the issue with us, there were people complaining about rink time, showing up with 5 guys. I think a plan should be in place that would mitigate these issues this year, i.e. a signed commitment from the rink not to move games. Do you still have an abundance of college players?

Is it not too late for Marple to get in?
I understand the division schedule is being worked on and will be finalized soon. I believe the southeast schedule is already finalized.

well hopefully they pick like today ... its incredibly unprofessional to wait this long and niether league should let them in at this point. Start date for AIHL is 10/1... START date not commitment date.
well hopefully they pick like today ... its incredibly unprofessional to wait this long and neither league should let them in at this point. Start date for AIHL is 10/1... START date not commitment date.
AIHL also said 8/15 was the commitment deadline, but didn't hold up to that. Teams came in left and right after that date. I do agree that it is unprofessional to wait this long to commit to a league and it would be unprofessional and unfair to respective divisions for the league to let teams in at this point.
