"A new reader suggests the rink is not up to par."
Hi just some guy,
You may have some valid points, but this is not the best way to start with your very first post on IHC.
Please reconsider.

I won't comment on this post in anyway other than saying that this is what's wrong with inline hockey. The players in the same city are unable to put together the best possible team, because someone has a problem with someone else, the rink, the owner, etc. I am neutral, like Switzerland, and have no problems with anyone that I know of, I just want to be able to play some good hockey again. I know most of the Tour Rebels play high level junior ice hockey, so I doubt they would be available to play AIHL, but if any of the other guys want to try out, come do it. I'm sure you'll make the team and why not try and make the best possible team Vegas has to offer?

just some guy,
You are a part of the problem, not a part of the solution.
If you can't say something constructive, you will be banned, and soon.
I will no longer allow these message boards to be taken over by anonymous posters who don't have the courage of their convictions.

newly registered anonymous posters get deleted when then don't actually bring anything productive to the table...
I played some tournaments at LVRHC a few years back and had nothing but good experiences, things might have changed but it sounds like this is a personal problem...

In response to just some guy...
I am new to Vegas hockey and I am aware of the best players not being totally available - I myself would push them to forward their ice careers as well....I will however tell you that I have four current and recently former pro guys that have played RHI and NARCh Pro that will be a nice part of our organization...There are also two players who have moved out here recently that have past XIHL and MLRH experience, so I am worried about being the best but I think we will have a solid team that will shake heads, but I think saying we'd win the whole thing would be pointless - We will have tryouts adn who knows if there are any diamonds in the rough
I encourage you to email me personally as maybe I do not know everything going on out here...I have seen many of the UNLV guys and they are talented and deserve a chance to play at this level, so please get in touch
In response to MTour71 - Yes I am an official that works for NARCh and in no way do choose AAU over USAIL, NARCh over any other....nor will I open that can of worms, I would have gone with the PIHA, but there are no teams closer than 8hours - I am simply helping our sport grow and will do it by any means needed - I will still maintain my good friendship and working relationships with NARCh and everyone else, for me nothing has chacnged and I will be the same guy
In response to Richard - What a story to dig out!
EVERYTHING TO BETTER OUR SPORT and anyone interested in getting in touch.....

Just some guy, why don't we start off with a name. Mine is Mike Downey. If you would rather be private, feel free to email me at
[email protected] I assume you play for UNLV, which is fine, they are a solid team and I respect them, and I even told Stio when we talked about the AIHL team it would help if we could get some of their guys on it. I know UNLV has had their problems in the past with the rink and owner, so I knew it would be questionable. I don't understand why you say all the players are garbage. I can state that I have personally played higher then Narch Gold, and I know of 2 other guys that have played Narch Pro. I don't know everyones resume, these are just other east coast guys like myself that I've played against. If we can get committments from the right players, we can definitely be competitive in the AIHL. So other teams don't worry, Stio won't put a product on the court that is going to get smashed every game. Just some guy I would really like to talk to you, email me. I would like some UNLV guys to come and try out and be part of the team. I've been trying to get something like this going for a few years now, and can't we all just get along. Or at least represent Vegas.

Hi Adam,
Hope all is well out west. Good luck with the new team and for any players interested in playing in Las Vegas, you should all know that you have a 1st class hockey guy and an even better person running the organization. Good luck to you all this season.

Just some guy,
You've made the same point now in 4 seperate posts. You say that you are stating facts and that may or may not be true, however I would say that at this point you have an agenda and you are merely stating your opinion. There's really no need to spread any more venom regarding this subject.
Here's an idea, if you are completely opposed to playing at the rink that has been mentioned, perhaps you could start your own team with the players that you speak of at another rink, therefore giving Las Vegas 2 teams.
What I can tell you is that if you choose not to play for the team mentioned in this thread, it's truly a shame that you won't have the chance for play for such a nice guy like Adam Stio. I can assure you that his dedication to this sport will likely lead to a competitive team that everyone will enjoy playing on.
Good luck to you all regardless of the choice that you make.

Just some guy, you came on here to post and still remain anonymous. I didn't receive an email from you with your identity which I would keep private. Either way it's ok, the Narch Pro guys I'm talking about aren't over 35, but it doesn't matter. If you are from the UNLV team and talking this much I don't understand it. I've played in tourneys against that team, and have beaten, tied, and played every game close with them, with the other garbage players from the LVRHC rink. Not even the best players from there. So I still don't understand all the hate. Either way I will be playing for the AIHL team because it's something I've been looking forward to. Your posts will not sway anyone so I think it's best if we just end the badmouthing. You've made your point and stated you opinion, multiple times, now we can just leave the rest of this post to me talking about how I own Bill Katinsky and he should fear I'm now in the same league as him. Haha

Great to hear from all of you and I thank you for the compliments and kind words - I miss you guys and as always, wish you guys the best as well
Mr Bergenfield, I didnt get to that part of that post....I am originally from Jersey and damn proud of it, but I was in PA for a while and I love those guys too so dont get jealous now...
I left myself open for Just some guy as well, so if the poster wants to speak with the sources and clue us in, let him, if not, as all that Ruppy said, for me it doesnt make a difference...I'll do my best to put a great product out there and be as competetive as I know how...All these guys know it
Everyone remembers that Semi-final triple OT game in PIHA between the Extremes and Minutemen...thats the last time I was behind a bench for this level so Im psyched and want to get back

Yeah congrats Adam, I had a great time working with your here in Mass for that short time.
And as far as anyone complaining or trashing a particular rink, the great thing about America is you can build your own rink and show us all how it's done.
But until you spend your own money to build a better rink, don't be dumping on anyone else's rink.

I am mildly interested in the above comment about the LVRHC floor condition (I guess) that Richard edited...
We've all played at the Las Vegas Roller Hockey Center back in the first year when the flloor was what it was...
Back in 1986, while in attendance at the USSF national coaching school, I was introduced to a concept called "the spirit of the game."
To put it bluntly, I would play at that little park's outdoor cement rink on Flamingo Blvd in Las Vegas, and do so happily, 'cause it would mean that I get to play the game of roller hockey...in Las Vegas. The LVRHC continues to get better and better, and bless all the players who have stuck with it.
I really get tired of all this negativity about the condition of floors, boards, amenities, etc...every rink operator does the best he/she can, and we owe a great debt of gratitude to all of 'em.
I might apologize that I am a rink operator myself, and therefore could be accused of bias in this...but I have played in about 50 facilities coast to coast, and I am happy to play this game anywhere, any time.
The rest of the world needs to be happy, too...so everybody happy-up, darn it.
Sincerely,
Danny G

Hey Danny,
I hear ya. Once I played at a rink in Bullhead City, Arizona, that was built out of corrogated steel. It was so hot outside that when I leaned back on the bench, I burned my back on the building's wall. LOL. But it was still a blast to play in that Topcat Hockey tournament!

Danny G. the actual rink and playing surface is fine. A new surface was put down last summer and it's in great shape. The actual location of the rink is not in the greatest of areas, but you are carrying hockey sticks if anything goes down. I've been playing there for 3 years and have never seen a problem myself.

I remember playing at that rink, won a midget tournament in overtime and was the MVP, but that was almost 10 years ago...
If anyone has played outdoor Arizona roller hockey they know you can't really complain about any rink with a roof over it...

Hey Rock, good to hear from you, glad to hear you're still alive - we could use a good waterboy like you...I'll hook you up with the best room on the strip, just a stones throw from the rink
In regards to the name, most of you know I like to be original...There is a youth organization in place with the name at the facility. We would like to identify a way for the kids to move up the ladder, eventually bridging the gap with youth, high school and college then eventually AIHL and possibly a world team!! If some basketball team comes after us...it'd make the news - so good exposure for everyone!!
There's minor league basketball?
The NBA Development League. There's a team in Broomfield. Speeking of Broomfield, good luck to Jami Yoder and the rest of the Rage this season. Although I do have to say that I'm an Eagles fan from the start.
