View Full Version : Aihl Player Contract Question

I recently got a look at the AIHL Player Contract and I noticed that there is a stipulation in it that states that any player that signs on to play in the AIHL cannot play in any other events that are not affiliated with AAU or AIHL. Am I wrong or doesn't that mean that any pro or minor AIHL players would not be allowed to play in NARCh or TORHS events? I'm not looking to start any controversy, I simply want to be sure I'm not misunderstanding that statement because I can't imagine an awful lot of players would sign if that is the case.
It may well be an insurance question, in as much as the insurance holder (AAU) is protecting itself from players playing in (unsanctioned events by AAU) where they are assuming they may have coverage and they do not. Probably need a waiver showing that the player is also covered by USA Inline insurance for these events...I of course may be wrong, but I suspect that might be why it is in the contract

Guess that also means that any NCRHA players can't skate AIHL either.

Guys, take it easy here. I reviewed some of the paperwork for a friend of mine a few weeks ago. It is not a final product yet from what I understand. And that was already questioned. Once the league gets settled (I understand that to be within the next week or so), committees are to be formed to handle these issues. The AAU is not making policy, voting members throughout the league are. Let's give them time to work the kinks out.

I think it is more so to keep people from also doing PIHA. But if they try to keep people from playing in NARCh or TORHS, well, they can't be that dumb can they? Expect an answer about two weeks after the schedule is finished three weeks into the start of the season. Do we know yet who is running the AIHL? I guess we will find out soon enough.
