That should be interesting...seeing Tro's name there. Who will go with the Wolves and who stays with the Growl?

hey yokes .. it just more has to do with the travel then anything. Myself, Ray, and Quartucio drive 2+ hours for home games. Gene drives about an hour to an hour and a half. With the price of gas it just makes no sense to keep putting miles on the cars and spending insane amounts of money on gas. Now Edsion is only about 45 minutes from us. None of us hold ill will with the Growl guys, and we wish we could all play together again as last season was the most fun i think the growl has ever been. We tried to make it work for this season. It just couldn't, we wish them the best of luck as im sure they will still be a huge contender in the AIHL like they were in PIHA.

Billy, makes sense to me. No reason to travel that far when you have a team close to you. Also any team that Tro is involved with, is known to be financially taken care of, at least in recent years. I think it is good for the division to split up the talent. It seems like it will be a very competitive division like years past but now any team has a chance to win the division. In years past the growl have been the favorites to win.

Hi Brian,

I played 2 years in Edison, NJ. Any idea who could be there that I know from the old MLRH years?

You can PM me with the info, thanks so much!

Marty

Marty, as of 8/8 the only ex-Bullet players I know that are planning to attend the tryouts are the Katinsky brothers.

Let me clear up a few questions I have been asked already:

No. This team has NOT been picked already. We have 36 spots to fill so even IF all the tournament team players returned, which they are not, it still would only be 14 spots taken. The tournament team has players from Rhode Island to Kentucky, many of whom play or will play for other AIHL or PIHA teams, having them all available for this AIHL team is just not in the cards.

Yes. It is being used to recruit talent for the Tour Savage Wolves that will be playing TORHS and NARCH Pro Level tournaments. All players making the AIHL team will have a obvious and better chance to make the tournament roster as well.

No. We no longer have any affiliation with last seasons PIHA Philidelphia Growl. Management and players have decided to go seperate ways do to other ventures and distance of travel. We do wish everyone that was involved with last years program the best of luck.

Yes. Players making this team will have the same perks as if they made the Tour Savage Wolves roster. Included in the perks; All fees incured for the AIHL league (including insurance), travel expenses, practice time, 2 jerseys (team owned), pants (team owned), helmet, gloves, wheels and other discounts available through the Hockey Closet Pro Shop at Inman Sports Club in Edison, NJ. All we ask is that you show up, commit to the organization and play your hardest everytime you step on the floor.

If I have not addressed all of your questions please feel free to ask them, they will be answered.

From our end, I can reaffirm what has been said so far. Bill put it best, last year was the most fun the Growl ever had, but many things have changed this year which will make things drastically different and unable to continue the way we were last season. Another highly competetive team in the AIHL is exactly what the league needed.

Quick update: 8/19/08 We have confirmation from 47 players for our August 23rd tryout and 33 players so far for our September 13th tryout.

Will every player show? I Doubt it but atleast the word is out there which is good for us, the league(s) and inline hockey in general.

Troho thats a great turnout!

We had 40 skaters and 8 goalies are our tryouts this weekend in Hartford. I also heard that the Rats had a great turnout, and the Mullisha pretty solid one too as well up in Boston.

Great news for the sport!

One tryout done!

The Savage Wolves would like to thank all of the players who attended our first tryout date. As expected the competiton was excellent and the intensity of the tryout was tremendous.

The tryout was light in numbers, 19 skaters and 7 goaltenders, compared to the overwhelming 47 players who had previously RSVP'd but that was not a huge surprise. We were pleased that alot of the players (18) who could not attend took the effort to call and let us know.

Our final tryout will be September 13th, noon-3pm at the Inman Sports Club in Edison, NJ.

The final Garden State Savage Wolves tryout will be held tomorrow at Inman Sports Club in Edison, New Jersey from noon to 3pm. As of this morning we have 54 confirmed skaters and 8 goaltenders. I expect not everyone will show but even if half come it should be a terrific skate.

Again we are taking 30 skaters and 6 keepers for 2 teams.

The final Garden State Savage Wolves tryout took place this past Saturday September 13th and was a huge success. We evaluated 30 skaters and 6 goalkeepers and narrowed our 2 tryout total of 47 skaters and 13 goalies down to 34 skaters and 7 goalies for our training camp which will be held on September 27th from 9am-noon.

We thank everyone who came out for their time and effort.
