I apologize, I have read the by-laws and I guess it was more of a rhetorical question to maybe stir some debate on making changes and what is good for the league. My belief is that the success of the league is greatly determined by the strength of each member club, rather than the member organization. I would like to have some discussion in a change in the by-laws to give voting power to one representative of each member club rather than the single voice of the member organization for the entire region. Give the power to the individual club to make decisions for what they think will be best for the league.

Just trying to get some discussion for the pros and cons. Always looking for ways to better the NCRHA.....

BOD = 1 rep from each region, usually the director

NCRHA staff are also present but non-voting.

I think as we adjust into the new divisional structure that type of idea will begin to make a lot more sense.

Well, essentially, the person that is your representative should be speaking in the interest of the clubs. In the ECRHA, the board is voted upon by the member clubs, who then appoint representatives. So somewhere along the line, the vote is coming from the teams.

In a situation like this, I think it is best to do it the way it is curently structured. It's hard enough to get teams to show up for regional meetings, much less to fly out to Colorado to meet face to face. Not only that, but I'm sure that teams aren't overly familiar with the financials, the year to year growth and direction that the league is going for, and what has worked and not worked in the past.

That is kind of how it works already. Your region can discuss an issue, vote on it and make a decision on how you (the regions) feel about it, then your region's rep (usually director) will take that to the NCRHA meetings.

The system, if followed can work, there are just too many teams out there that dont' hesitate to complain, but do very little to be constructive and active in the league. (That jab was not directed to you because you are obviously trying to invoke some constructive discussion on here).

The hot issues in the league are generally the same:
location of nationals
eligibility (years and "pro" status)
official puck
sponsorship
hockey college
regional structure

If you feel passionately about one of these topics, get with your region, come up with an idea and send it up the flag pole...
