Hey guys,
We (Wash U) are interested in getting new jerseys/pants for next season because we've had the same ones since 2004-2005. Any suggestions on manufacturers? Our current ones were produced by "Force", but I noticed the league is sponsored by ACE and I've noticed many teams have opted to go with them. Any good/bad things to say about ACE/other manufacturers? Any advice in general?

The only thing I have to say about our experience with ACE Jerseys is they might mess up your roster. This year we hade several jerseys have the wrong number on them or the name was spelled incorectly. Other that that ACE is a great company.

Hi AJ,
Any company might "mess up your roster." Mistakes happen.
One IHC reader received a large jersey when he told me he'd ordered an extra large. It wasn't Ace's fault -- they made the jersey that IHC put into their online ordering system. So, while that particular reader (who should probably lose weight ;) ), didn't get the jersey he wanted, it wasn't Ace's fault. It was the fault of the person at IHC who made the order. Heads will roll!

Hey Joe,
Here are some good things I'll say about Ace Sports:
I hung out with John and Yvona Pellegrino of Ace last week at the 2008 National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association Championships. We shared the same table while John created jersey designs for interested parties and I made "live" updates on IHC's Forums section. It was a total blast. John's wife Yvona is one of the coolest, sweetest and funniest people I've ever had the good fortune to meet. John's insights on the strategy of the various teams were on target and extremely helpful to me as writer.
Oh, and Ace Sports enabled IHC to have its recent 10-Year Anniversary Commemorative Jersey promotion, which was designed to bring in income to IHC so that the site could continue.
Ace Sports? They live up to their company name.

The jerseys are nice. The only thing I don't like is the pants. They get real tight at the bottom around your shinguards.

We've had ace for two years now, and I've never had a problem with them at all...very easy to deal with, never had a prob with right names/numbers nor ordering single jerseys when adding more players during the season or before the new season

We had a really good experience with ACE. We found out were getting money donated for new jerseys just a month before nationals and they worked with us to design and make them so that we had them in time for Colorado.

The one and only problem I've had with their stuff is the buckles on the shells (for goalies, or if anyone uses them for ice) are kinda flimsy, and one good shot breaks them. Also, the goalie cuts are a little tight, especially around the arms. Just order big for them, and you'll be ok.
The one thing I really like is the ability to reorder from year to year without being charged a reorder fee or something like that. We used to have Force, but when they were going to jack up the price for us to reorder for the freshmen, we decided to move on. We will be replacing our yellow jerseys with white ones for this upcoming season, and plan to use ACE again.
One request I make is that you don't get some ridiculous design with animals crawling out of your backs and claws all over it or something. Make it look classy, instead of something you drew up in your 11th grade art class.

What c/a are you wearing that the jerseys are tight?
I've gotten XXL goalie cuts for a couple of seasons now, and they're just too big on me. I finally ordered an XL goalie cut for my IHC jersey and it fits like a glove. For reference, I'm wearing an XS Vaughn 5500 with S arms, I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs.
One big warning, at least from my perspective, is that if your goalie doesn't wear more modern pants that are too damn big to start out with, he/she should get a large shell. I wear Vaughn P2500s that have to be from the early-to-mid 90s and there's no way in hell any of my XXL shells from ACE would fit.

Probably because of a close affiliation with the Buffalo Wings travel team, since elias19 said they also play NARCh and TORHS? http://www.buffalowingshockey.com/

Agreed.
Ace got all of our names and numbers correct. The order got hung up at the production facility, so our uniforms were delivered to the rink during our first game of the season (a B team game). We had guys changing jerseys on the bench. Wish we had pictures of that.

Ace did a great job with our new jerseys this year. We had some minor problems with getting the right number on pants and stuff like that but it wasn't a big deal. Like someone else said the pants are tight around the shinguards, but once I got used to the feel I actually really like them.
