This thread is for everyone that wants to see Inline Hockey Rise !!

Now we need ideas on how to get the word out there. Im throwing some idea's out there, and please contribute to the list as well. The more idea's the better.

Of course some of these require an investment, but not really much at all.

IDEAS

---------------

Myspace / Facebook - OK, now EVERYONE has myspace or Facebook, if you dont then your not cool..lol, just joking. But they have bulletins where you can post information on things. If we all make a bulletin and tell people to spread the bulletin, then it will get noticed a lot. So start posting bulletin's ALL THE TIME. The more the better. Just dont spam it

Craigslist - Always the best source to spread the news, this site is known in a lot of places!!

Newspaper - a Small ad can run you super cheap, Post a small picture w/ advertisement on it saying something about a upcoming game or the season..etc

Forums - if your reading this, then yes it does work

Door to Door - Make a couple hundred copies of a flyer or something and go out door to door and spread the word. Also stand outside a store and wear your jersey and pass them out that way and talk a little about it as well. DO NOT PUT ON CARS - (A word of warning, i highly woundent do this due to the fact of the rink getting sued for littering. A lot of people dont look at it and throw it on the ground and if there is a whole bunch of them, then the county will sue the rink big time)

Car Washes - Start a car wash and make a BIG SIGN. This also brings money to supporting the team in travels. Most small no name businesses will loan out a piece there parking lot to help you out, just tell them you'll bring business to them because they have to wait a few minutes so they can come into there shop.

Chalk on a car - The best way to spread news is when your driving, so get some $2 car chalk at your local walmart or some place and make a simple to read sign stating where its located and come support.

Coupons - most teams charge $5 anyways...but putting a coupon out there saying "Buy 3 tickets, get one free" or something like that. Coupons like that make people have to bring more people, which means spreading faster.

Business to Business - Bring some flyers to some local businesses and if they bring that flyer in they get a free hot dog or something.

Local Commercials - this one is a little expensive, but will WORK. It all depends on the time you want it posted and how long. Most tv stations charge only like $200 - $300 for 30 seconds of a commercial after 9pm on most nights. Which is really good.

----------------------

Well those are a few for now i guess, but lets hear everyone's ideas. I hope my idea's give you more idea's. Post as many as you like. Of course the ones i posted are just examples!!

Good Luck and hope we make Inline Hockey a Big sport.

You have to make it grow with the young kids and start from there. I think one way to do this, is if someone put together an organized travel league. I always felt like, if they do it in Ice Hockey, why can't they do it in Roller. It would be great if someone put together some type of organization, that did this. Organization and competition, makes things look more professional, and will help it grow.

In most places the law is that you only get busted if you're caught putting the sign on the telegraph pole, or on a car windscreen - and it is only the person doing it (or their employer). Which is why the band adverts appear on poles overnight, and the bands don't get in legal troubles.

True, but i guess it depends where you are of course. Like ive been part of a few clubs where they both go busted for tons of garbage around the walmart parking lots due to excessive fliers actually FLYING around everyone...get it..hahahaha...ok ok, wasnt funny, but yeah, with my luck im not gonna do it again.

And its true about getting little kids involved as well, cause the more kids play the more they want to go to games a long w/ the parents.

Any other ideas???

Compelety agree with getting more kids involved is the way forward so in 5-10 years there is a bigger pool of players demanding more and opportunity for a career in inline hockey.

Well .... you have to think why we all started playing inline? End of ice career so just for fun? Watching Mighty Ducks?

For me it was cost/price. I could book a gym hall with my friends and play twice a week for the month, for same the cost of one weeks ice hockey cost commitments. I don't know if it the same across the pond? Plus less equipment is required, so that has cost benefits.

When I started playing in leagues, the travel costs were less than ice hockey also, as we played out of the same facility that luckily was near where I lived.

Don't quite know how to get this message across to the youth of today who sit and stare at Xbox and My Space all day .... but I think if it could be sold to kids and parents alike as a "cheaper" alternative (for those maybe down the ice hockey food chain) then that would be a decent place to start. But that would just be stealing players from ice ... so maybe counter productive?!?

... sort of talked my self out of my own idea there didn't i?!?!?

Alrighty, so kids are stuck on video games. Well invest an NHL 2k8 or something. Buy your kid a hockey game. I started w/ NHL 95'...ooohh baby that game was HOTT on sega genises.

Anyways, if they play it they will come!!
