1 assist or 2 assists per goal?

Why does Inline hockey award 1 assist per goal, when ice hockey awards 2?

Is this part of us trying to be different or does anyone have any reasoning behind this?

It is because there are 4 players on the surface, and to give 3 of them credit is pointless. That is why I don't understand why PIHA gives two assists.

Everybody who knows me knows this is a MAJOR hot button with me...

Wayne Gretzky reports in his book that the NHL scoresheets admonishes the official scorekeeper (in writing) to "award a second assist whenever possible."

I am tired of the guy who closes down the offense, digs the puck out of the corner, and then sends it up to the two offensive hot shots, who then dink (the nice word) around with it forever, receiveing no credit, when he/she started the play to begin with.

Yes, there are second assists that were indeed simply the previous touch, with not really any playmaking involved, but dad gum it!!!! There are PLENTY of plays where the second assist is VERY EARNED...

...and everybody on this board knows it!

depends on the league, some rulesets give 2 assists, some don't.

i'm assuming that FIRS don't give second assists because they don't give second assists in quad hockey, and they can make that a point of differentiation from IIHF style inline rules - like the goal size.

They do 1 assist all the time at my rink
