I believe that this is related to the Jr. PIHA program that many of the PIHA teams are participating in, although we are currently using our own site at www.jrpiharmd.com. Each organization in our division has a youth program that competes in a league against the other organizations. In the Rocky Mountain Division we have 10&Under, 12&Under, 14&Under, and 16&Under divisions and all except for the 16&U have Tier I and Tier II teams. Most of the teams in our division are coached by pro or minor players and we started our games a couple weeks ago. From the feedback I've received, this has been a very positive experience for most of the kids thus far.

You say many, but its only 4 teams, because the rest of the piha pretty much rejected the concept. We cant expect to create a jr piha if the regular piha isnt where it needs to be.

Also don't forget that we already have the very succesful NAYRHL (North American Youth Roller Hockey League) out here on the east.

Yeah you guys may have a different league out there on the east coast, but GROWL there isn't anything else for these kids to play out here. Its a good point you made man but I hear it is going really well so far and there are virtually no club travel teams nor local tournaments for these kids to play in. So for the RMD its the best thing to do, but that probably isn't the same in the other divisions. Almost all of the kids who play on these teams showing up to all of the pro games. Especially in Colorado Springs.

Yeah, thats where pretty much all of our tryout turnup came from (fans and pros/minors siblings). We just wanted to make a way for the kids to experience PIHA.

The Gateway Division also sponsors a AAA division I believe.

As long as the kids are playing roller hockey, what does it matter how many there are or who they are aligned with? As far as I am concerned, "just four teams" is four more teams of kids playing this sport.

What a great idea, too, if they are playing at about the same time as the PIHA teams. I imagine the kids are pretty excited about those games.

It's all good!
