View Full Version : Nationals Question?

How is it that Lindenwood B Black won the Great Plains and got the bid to nationals and the Gold team is the one on the schedule? I thought only 1 b team per school could go? And if so, if Lindenwood Black choose not go, wouldnt the bid go to an alternate team? This just makes absolutely no sense to me.

...and the Gold team is the one on the schedule?
I only see Lindenwood Black on the schedule (http://www.ncrha.org/schedule.php?playoff_id=147&event_id=796&area=schedule). Where are you looking?

Lindenwood Gold is listed in the pools http://http://www.ncrha.org/schedule.php?&event_id=796&playoff_id=147&area=pools

Yes that is a typo. It is Lindenwood Black playing at Nationals.

OK, thats kind of what I thought it was. Thanks for clearing it up.
In regards to the Lindenwood Black/Gold distinction, it seems peculiar that while Lindenwood Black won their division and received the autobid, their roster is now loaded with Gold players. The only rules I'm aware of with player sharing is that between A and B teams, and I was under the impression that the rosters froze going into the regional tournaments, eliminating the potential to share players. This might be an ambiguous case, seeing as both Lindenwood Black and Gold are in the same division at the same school, but it seems odd that they have the opportunity to create a veritable super B team (as super as a B team could get I suppose), while no other school in the division has the same opportunity. Granted, Lindenwood is a privileged roller hockey school as is, but the fact that they suddenly transfer players from their upper tier B team to their lowest tier team right before nationals not only seems odd and unfair to the rest of the field, but also unfair to the players on the Black team who earned a bid by beating Gold. I guess my question is if this could possibly be legal?

The only roster freeze that is currently on the books prevents players from moving down to play "B" after they have dressed for a game with the "A" team.
A player on the "B" team may move up at any time (but is subject to being locked on the "A" team as soon as they dress for a game).
There is no rule for movement between B teams - I think the rationale was that most schools with two B teams stack their best players on one team and then have a C team. Also, as an example, even if Lindenwood had the two best B teams in the country, NCRHA would only allow one of those teams to participate at nationals (that may be why the Gold team didn't get an invite).

Wow, the whole gold roster is on the black roster now. What a load of ****. I think someone at Lindenwood got scared.

Also, I feel bad for the kids on the black team that won regionals and now might not get to play at nationals. All in all this is a bad situation for everyone and I think it should be something that gets looked at for next season. I think once regionals and nationals have started, rosters are locked. That should include moving players from B team to B team in addition to already not moving players down.
