Just wanted to bring this to everyone's attention...

I've noticed in our division (Southwest) that a few games have been incorrectly entered as OT games when they were decided in regulation. If you enter scoresheets you probably know how games can easily be marked as OT games and not be noticed if you don't double check. But the point is if this isn't noticed teams are getting points they didn't earn which could affect the playoff picture in a close race.

I wanted to check if this was happening anywhere else, so I looked at Maryland Knights' games since they have a league high 4 OT losses. Their 8-5 loss to Pittsburgh Bandits was marked as an OT game. So, I'm guessing this may happen with at least a handful of games throughout the league.

I'm not saying anyone is doing this on purpose, like I said if you enter scoresheets you know how it's easy to accidently mark a game as having gone to OT and the system doesn't catch it. Just thought I'd bring this up because I'm not going to check every team but you may want to double check your division to make sure no games were incorrectly marked.

I actually have a script set up to back through and check these.

Additionally I'm adding a check to make sure OT games are a one-goal differential and that goal was scored in a period higher than the number of regulation periods - that should keep these from going in that way.

Thanks for the heads up!

The guys in the Mason Dixon Division have been great about getting to the bottom of a few of these situations in their division. If anyone knows of any other scenarios where this is happening, give me specific information in an email.

Typically I submit the scoresheet for Chicago Untouchables team, and in addition to the score sheet I type out the results. Its time consuming but the handwriting of the score keeper is horrid. also it insures the correct players get points as this has been incorrect consistantly in the past.
