View Full Version : All these "Pro" leagues...

Dear leagues,
I am glad to see that some people are keen on getting pro roller hockey back on the map.
But enough is enough already!
There are all of these so called "Pro" leagues starting up. But I have yet to see hard facts. This is with the exception of the NARHL.
If you are going to do something don't just talk about doing it. We the public wants to see hard evidence that these so called leagues will exist.
All this talk about numerous leagues is just taking up space on the board. Talking about putting a league together on a message board is one thing, but actually doing it is a whole different story.
Granted I don't know these people. No one does. How could we? You haven't even said who you are yet. I have yet to see a website, team list, even a small package for people interested in the leagues who would like to put together a team.
Anyone can come on here, sound like they know what they are doing. All this hype for something that we don't even know is real.
What is the point?
People are sublected to a whole bunch of crap everyday. We would like to know what is real, and what is not.
We need the facts.
Once we get the facts maybe people will start pulling behind you. But untill then there will be a whole lot of skeptics!
Anyways, thats my two cents worth.
But I still wish you who have REAL intentions with this all the best of luck, and I urge the ones that don't PLEASE STOP!
Thanks,

Exactly.
Needless to say, you also need the current professional players to gain an interest in your league if you want the best talent. If you don't provide facts and information for leagues, no one, including these top athletes, won't have any interest in playing. How do these pro league presidents expect to have high caliber leagues if they can't attract the talent?
And please don't tell me you've got plenty of local talent. If you're a good player over 20 years old, you're already playing for a pro/semi-pro/sponsored team.

A website for the NIHL will be up and running next week. It will contain info on the league, the six proposed team locations for 2002, a players and coaches application, and league contact information. As I stated in an earlier post, this league may have to have a name change one more time because there is already a ice hockey league called the Northern International Hockey League (NIHL). In this case, this league will either be called the National Roller Hockey League (NRHL), Xtreme Inline Hockey League (XIHL)or the Xtreme Hockey League (XHL). I like the name, Xtreme Hockey League but what do you guys think?

Thanks for the update!
Don't think I was bashing you or anything. I was just getting annoyed about seeing all this stuff, and nothing to prove it!
Best of Luck!

NRHL is already a purchased domain, just to let you know. Also, a guy by the name of Mike Killbreath attempted to run a league named the XHL a year ago. He may own some sort of copyright to that name too.

Hi there - as owners of a roller hockey facility in Illinois, we would love to see pro roller hockey take off. But a name like Xtreme makes me think of the banked roller hockey that they are playing and I don't think thats the image we want for the real sport. Just my two cents. Seems like you are doing alot of work to get the pro hockey going, keep up the good work!

Well,
It looks like you might have gotten your wish. As of right now it really looks like there isn't going to be a pro roller hockey league this or next year. A web site was supposed to be up the beginning of this week, but yet its Wednesday and no word yet. Also we haven't herd from Bonecrusher in a couple of days. I also have to say with the way people on this message board have treated just about every person who has mentioned pro roller hockey on this message board, I looked through all the past posts about pro roller hockey, I can't blame him if he said screw it. From what I read it seems like everytime somebody trys to do good for this sport everybody trys to make it a point to shoot them down. I have been involved with hockey in general for about 15 years and I have never in my life come across the kind of people I have here. I'm not Knocking this web site but, the people who post here. Iknow that a couple of years ago when I was waiting to go pro there were no new leagues to be seen anywhere. Now it looks like at least one person per year has tryed to start a real pro inline hockey league. I don't know what you people are thinking, but I would have leaped at the chance a new league or not. But anyhow it looks like Bonecrusher really isn't interested in starting a league any more. So, I guess you got your wish. By the way we are not the same person, as some have suggested, my name is Mike Stille and as of right now I live in Savannah GA. not anywhere in Arkansas.
I really hope things turn out different than they look now.
IN HOCKEY,
Mike Stille

Come on man let us know if this league is going to be a go or a no-go. If its go lets have some info and a web address. If its a no-go let us know so this subject can be put to bed, but don't leave us hanging with your last post. There are still people out there who want pro roller hockey to make a come back. I would still like to see this league really take off, but we need information.

It is not looking very good for this league to take off. Like you mentioned we were supposed to be supplied with a web address earlier this week, and nothing. The league was slated for '02, around January and we heard nothing for perspective players for tryouts. Like you I would love some sort of pro league to take off. If it's going to be done though, I would rather have someone take the time and do it right. So far in this instance we are not headed in that direction.

Don;t know where Bonecrucher went to? Thought he was going to give us some info? Oh well, maybe he will, maybe he won't!
Can;t wait for the NARHL looks like this could become the real thing!
Check out some of these previous leagues that never really materialized before you attach a name to your new league:
Extreme Hockey League (XHL) 1998--an attempt by the Buffalo Wings and Planet Hockey for a 1998 season with teams in the Northeast and Canada.
National Roller Hockey League (NRHL) 1998--proposed West Coast league by former organizers of RHI; renamed Pro Inline Hockey.
X-Treme Roller Hockey League (XrHL) 2000--another made-for-TV league planned for the summer of 1998 with games to be taped at Wayne Gretzky Center in Irvine, CA.
Extreme Hockey International (XHI) 2001--umbrella organization for Great Lakes Elite League play and tournament play.
Good Luck from St. Louis, home of the last RHI champion--the St. Louis Vipers.

I talked to Mr. Pat Osborne (the organizer of this league) this week, and he said that this league is going to go. Players are actually going to get paid weekly. Salaries are going to be around $200.00 per week with a possible weekly bonus for winning. Which is about the same as some of the minor league ice hockey leagues. This is actually going to be the real thing. I can't wait!!

Again this so-called new league is taking up space, sixpack you are a very trusting person, (this is not an attack on you)personally I hoped this would have been a go myself. Unfortunately, when asked to provide concrete facts, the organizer was unable to do so. Yes, he did mention a web site coming soon, that was two weeks ago. He also promised to update us to keep the negative responses from occuring, yet we have'nt heard a thing. I would enjoy a good quality league of roller hockey coming to my area, it would be great and I would support it as much as I could. However, I feel this chance is slipping away. So I am trying not to get my hopes up and wait for something that may not materialize. I wish he would prove me wrong and you could come back with a roaring "I told you so"

Its not that I'm a trusting person but, I talked to him he also gave me other concrete information. I wish I could post It here but, I don't think it is my place to do so. Also one of the reasons he didn't post anything on this board is because he felt that there was a lack of interest due to some of the replys he got. If you want top know anything for yourself I would suggest that you email him, or wait a week or two until everything is set up and announced.

Setting up the NIHL is like a cooking a good steak, sometimes it's worth the wait. Granted, I didn't think it would take this long to launch this league. I have found that a lot of arena operators are slow in coming to a decision when it comes to inline hockey. It seems that inline hockey is hard to chew in some parts of this country.
I have NOT gave up on the NIHL and should have some info for you sometime late next week.
Oh yeah, sixpack and I are not the same person. He wants this league to go as much as I do.

Like I said before I hope it works out and we have a league with some good quality hockey, especially in the mid to lower midwest. It would really add to the increase in popularity of the sport in this part of the country.

Hey,
Its great to finally hear some support for this league. For a while it seemed like I was the only one who wanted this to go. If we all support this league it will go. If we all get behind Mr. Osborne and say "Hey, we want pro roller hockey to make a come back the sponsors and investors will have no choice but to support a pro league, but it has to begin here, with the fans and players, like some of the posts in the past have said what league is going to do any thing without anybody , with any talent, to play in or support a pro league. That is why we , as players and fans , have to support any effort to start a pro league. I know what has happened in the past and it pissed me off too, but this is going to be the real thing, I just know it. I have talked to Mr. Osborne and I've heard what he has to say and what he wants to do, and if we all support it it could be the greatest thing to happen to roller hockey since in-line skates were invented. So, I hope that everybody will support this even if the output of information get slow at some points. A pro league would be a buisness as well as a place to play, and I think anyone who has half a brain knows that sometimes it takes a little while to get what you want but, you can't let the idea die at the first sign of rockieness. So, once again please support this, its the only way the pro game will come back!!!!

I would love to play in it but first we have to wait for everything to be finalized, like tryouts being announced. As far as more information Bonecrusher has been posting information here as it is finalized.

All I have to say is that I hope at least one of the teams in the actual Ozark mountians area goes, I played Jr. A in the Rockies and it was an unforgetable experience to live in the mountians, I'm sure the Ozarks are the same way. I just hope that if I am not luckey enough to make a team in the mountian region of the league, that the ones that do will appreciate it, becuase it is just unreal if you haven't lived there before.
