I really hope that these two franchises do not give up on the season. I bet regardless of their record that they are having a somewhat positive experience in the PIHA. Anyways I was just wondering which one of these two teams is gonna get their first win and why? My geuse is the stingers because they have a little easier division but I do not play over there so I was just curious as to what everyone thinks about that. So, is it the Stingers or the Generals? Good luck to both of you the rest of the season!!

Winchester will win a game first.
They have played 3 games decided by less than 3 goals, including one in overtime. While Savannah has played 3 games decided by less than 3 goals and none in overtime and don't play York (2, 1 goal games) again.
That's all i got on that.

PIHAGOALIE,
You say that the Stingers are in an easier division, but the when SC or Raleigh play against them they get smoked. It's is a little annoying to hear people talk about SE Division as if we are a bunch of inhouse hockey players.
Regardless of whatever team comes out of the SE whether it is Raleigh or SC, teams are going to have a tough time against them.
My guess is that Winchester will win a game first.

Savannah went up 2 - 0 on us yesterday and then played us even 2 - 2 through the first half of game one. The second game we were tied 2 - 2 going into the second half. They had some new players and were definitely much more competitive. I hope Ryan Smith is allowed to continue to add players and beef up the lineup...the final score doesn't show how hard Savannah actually worked yesterday.

Going with what DJ said, The Stingers players (the ones who have played all the games) show alot of heart when they play, and they never quit. Some teams wouldn't be able to do what they are doing right now, lose (sometimes by huge margins) and come to play to win every game they have. I'm sure the Generals team knows what i am talking about, and i wish both teams the best of luck this season.

Winchester (http://www.thepiha.com/team.php?team_id=52122&area=schedule)
Savannah (http://www.thepiha.com/team.php?team_id=52163&area=schedule)
There's close games for both of these teams, there's some not so close games too, but not every PIHA game is going to be a close game.
Also, Winchester Pro doesn't have an overtime loss.

Phantom305, Look, I am not taking shots at your division at all. I really hope ya believe in that. I am sure you guys have some great teams down there. I said what I said based on the following k?
Southeast division botom 3 teams have a combined win loss record of 10 wins and 30 losses
Mason Dixon division bottom 3 teams have a combined win loss record of 16 wins and 28 losses
This is why i picked the Stingers to win a game before the Generals. Nothing more, nothing less. I think that the Stingers has a better chance to win against the other two teams than the Generals do against their other two teams that are at the bottom of their division. Honestly I would love to see both teams get more wins. I was really happy to see that the Fire Ants won a game this weekend. This was just for friendly talk anyway. I only wish the best for both franchises, honestly.

Well, my posts can only be as accurate as the PIHA website. This is probably something that should be looked into.

My college team played the stingers in an exhibition game a few weeks ago. Needless to say, I'm not sure how they are competing on a pro-level. They barely touched the puck with us. :)

Dude you played for FSU, give me a break we had 6 people there a back up goalie that has only played 2 minor games all year! Congrats I was not even there as well as 3/4 of the rest of the team. It was a waste of time for both teams from what I hear. Schedule a day, ill talk to Mr. Davis personally and we will schedule another "practice" with are full team. We beat FSU in the beer cup 5-1 last year your FSU team barley touched the puck if I remember!

I agree, it was a waste of time for both teams. I was not aware that 3/4 of your team was missing or you were using a backup goalie. All excuses aside, we will not be playing your team again anytime soon.

I wouldn't want to see a slautering anyway. it's good you won't be playing them any time soon. If a pro team played all of their starting players and played a collage team, there wouldn'tbe a compitition.

Trust me the Fire Ants will win their share of games this season. They are a very competetive team, in a very competetive division. I suspect that in a few of the other divisions, they would be at or near the top of the standings. Though they only have one win at the moment, I don't put them in a class with the other teams with 1 or no wins. I believe that the Fire Ants would blow out these teams.

while this applies for most college teams.. it depends on what Pro team you playing and also what college team is playing....
Teams like Lindenwood, MSU, even Nueman would give most PIHA teams way more then they expected.
Lindenwood has beaten the mudcats in the past. Not many PIHA teams would even be able to not get mercied by the mudcats, let alone beat them.

Hey man, all I have to say is that it was 9-2 in the middle of the 2nd period with our team skating 1/2 ass. You mention your team beat fsu in the "Beer cup" hahahahha, look at the title man. That is a joke tourney for us. You say you used a backup goalie, well we used both of ours and our 3rd/4th lines for most of the game while everyone was messing around.

Regardless if Savannah or Winchester win a game 1st, I know that we will win one soon. Just look at the scores from last wekeend. We are a new team and are obviously starting to play well together now :D
I'm picking out some of our worst losses to make a point, so our scores at the beginning part of the season used to be 11-0, 9-0, 9-1, 8-2, etc :(
And now that we have been playing together a little more:
Winchester posted a 4-1 loss and a 6-4 loss against the Scottdale Inferno and a 0-6 loss and a 4-2 loss against the Pittsburgh Bandits.
Winchester's next games are at home against the Potomac Mavericks and I predict that we will get at least one win in the Pro division against Potomac :p

We'll, I guess that didn't work out exactly as I had hoped.....
Looks like we'll need to look toward a win against Potomac this upcoming weekend. We meet them again for a rematch at their home rink in Chantilly.
Hopefully the outcome will be a little different this time......;)

There has been a lot of talk recently about the weaker teams in the league.
First we should all acknowledge the Fire Ants who earned points in 4 straight games.
Second the Philadelphia Revolution just released a brand new website and it looks terrific. A lot of teams with great records dont even have a website. Meanwhile the 0-18 Generals go as far as to have a dance team.
I hope quality players take a good look at who they are playing for at the end of the season and consider trying out for teams that go the extra mile for their organization. Pressure needs to be put on the teams who do nothing but show up and play. The league should be about more then just showing up and winning.
Congrats to the Revolution for continuing to work hard in the creation of a good organization and likewise to the Generals. I am not as familiar with some of these teams, but it appears there are other teams like this in Cincinnati and Sacramento. Not to mention the Robins who were once thought of as a PIHA basement team, now appear to be a real force in the league. A prime example of what happens when you stick with it and take care of the little things.

The Rolling Robins are a very good team. They have youth, speed and they don't quit.
We are looking forward to seeing how Winchester and Harrisburg run their games and activities. I will do my best to keep some of my players away from the Generals dance team...as well...
I am still blown away by Gabbie Rae. I hope one of the Robins can post about how good this little girl was...it was incredible!

Thanks Flynn for the recognition!
kudos to the Revolution website as well, looks pretty good.
There are alot of teams that do the little things and game day stuff well.
The RatCast by the Boston team is excellent for instance.
I always tell my guys, that if you play well and have a great game day show at the games, you will draw more fans which will draw more players which will make your team better.
My one comment would be that we all need to do a better job at P.R. have a league wide director of P.R. or something who is 100% dedicated to this. As an owner I would be willing to pay them directly to promote our team, the league and the sport.
We just partnered with the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL to have a joint kids club program. This is a HUGE step and theres little support out there other than posting on here or the league website where the story is top news for about 5 minutes.

that's great that you guys partnered with the wolfpack ... this is great ... all teams should try and do this with local minor or pro teams. I agree there should be a national marketing plan or PR ... There are still people (and by people i mean roller hockey players) that have no idea what the PIHA is. So if Roller hockey players do not know what the PIHA is, do you think the average random hockey fan would have any idea?
We should get the bum Dave Garland to market the whole league ;)
We all see what has been done with the Gateway Division. Each division should strive to do this, but I think it would be even better if there was ONE person marketting the entire league. It would really get a lotta $$$$$$, moving the league even farther in the lead. I can tell you this. If the rest of the league was like the Gateway with their PR and Marketting, no one would have to worry about MLRH coming on, and I think if they launched this year with all the promises they made, then PIHA would have been hurting. PIHA was given the gift that the MLRH is NOT coming back this season. Take advantage of it, get to the point where no "entry" level league can compete!

Thanks for the love Bill, haha.
I agree, however, with what you said. A nation-wide marketing/public relations campaign is something very possible and necessary.
There are also ways to teach regions how to do their own marketing and public relations (how-to kits, brochures, etc.) that can be provided to regions and teams.
This creates a trick-down effect with everyone having their hand in it:
-National Marketing--->Regional Marketing---->Team Marketing
Each one is unique but needs to be tied together for the best results.
