I heard a rumor that there might not be an all-star game this year. Is it true or what??

There is no Pro All-Star game. My understanding is that there will be Minor All-Star games in each division but no national Minor All-Star game either. You've got to remember all the new divisions there are this year meaning many more division winners the league is flying to conference semifinals/finals.

Yeah, if only one person represented each team this year in the Pro division, that would be 42 players! Around 22 per Allstar team. Right? Logically, it seems like it would be difficult to organize all those players, and no one would get enough playing time for what may be a long trip for some. Not to mention the cost for each person invited.

And that's if only one player was represented, per team. Many teams have more than two. There would have to be more than just two allstar teams playing eachother to make it work. Possibly two Western Conference Teams, and two Eastern Conference that play within their conference. Just a guess, and obviously in the following years to come. My 2 cents...

Let the fans vote for the allstars! We can all place bets on the odds and the money goes towards a kick a$$ allstar game. Kinda like a fund-raiser/telethon. And the winner gets something cool too.

why pay for all the players to go to the all star game when you can pocket the money.. makes sense i guess

Simple math: last year, 4 division champion teams were flown by the league to conference championships. This year there will be 8 teams flown to conference championships. The money has to come from somewhere. Obviously, the all-star game is least important here.

I don't have the guidebook with me but if I remember right it's only flights for those more than 400 miles away from the location of conference finals, otherwise it's ground transportation.

Ya must have missed my flight to Feasterville too....oh wait that was the flight to Colorado I missed...lol. I don't see any flights needed at all to obtain an eastern champion. West is a different story. Also we keep hearing oh more teams more flights, doesn't more teams also mean more money? Entering the season last season we were given a break down showing what our money went towards & far as I remember a portion of the money went towards flights to the allstar game, flights to playoffs games & the winning purse. So with all the new teams in the league this year shouldnt all those areas already be covered money wise? Please don't take any of this as something negative or saying someones pocketing money...I'm simply asking a question because I thought these flights & things were covered from each teams entry fee. I could be totally wrong here.

I have all the same questions, but I suggest these types of comments be saved for the PIHA Only Board. I will say that the difference between this year and last is that last year money was only budgeted for travel for the Finals. This year there is a great deal budgeted for the Conference Finals, which includes possibly up to 8 teams, all needing travel. Plus the finals after that.

Can Mike Burke or Richard, move this thread to the PIHA board.

Sorry, keep forgeting we do have a private section on here. Ya does make sense they need to plan for the worst. If certain teams needed to travel a great distance even here in the East. I'll finish up on the PIHA board when its moved, thanks Ant

why hide it away? I'm quite interested in what the discussion is - but obviously am not in the PIHA section since we don't have much of a PIHA league in Australia ;)

besides, if the answers are all clear cut and above board, why not have them posted in public?
