What do you guys reccomend for a girdle? I am putting together my equipment and I need some to go under my Mission pants. Just wondering what you guys reccomend for a good mix of movment and protection.

Honestly you really do not need a girdle, Unless you are a die hard defence man who will sacrafice there body to block every shot. Plus girdles tend to make you stiff and you lose a little of your mobility.
But If you need one Go with a inline manufacture because they are alot thinner, Ice companies make it to where it goes under your shell, and they tend to be bigger.
I also recommend that you go to your local hockey pro shop and try them on, do not order one and hope it fits.
If you already own an ice girdle...take out the hard pads and just leave the foam in the girdle pockets..makes it lighter, tighter and more flexible while offering decent protection..my son used his Tackla girdles like that while he still wore them..but like was said..he eventually just gave them up...although at PIHA and MLRH levels, you might want to consider still using one.

alot of those guys don't wear them at that level, like I said unluss you are gun ho about falling in front of a shot. You reallly don't need them, In PIHA there is no contact or really hard checking, so the only thing you need to protect are your hips and tooosh.........

I used to use a Mission one - the wraparound girdle, not one you had to pull-up. I was quite happy with it for a few years but ditched it recently and haven't missed it much - it was a bit hot in some climates, and stingy airlines were painful with weight allowances.
I'm a D-man and you just get used to getting hit with the puck, its just like picking the guys who haven't played d much because they'll get their feet busted up blocking a shot - but more experienced D position themselves better to block the shot without getting hurt.
The missions were the lightest and and easiest to move in that I tried.

O.K Good to know. I just read the equipment requirements on the website of the rink. They said I dont need shoulder pads either.
Thanks guys lots of help and saved me some bucks!

I used to not wear a girdle... then i got tripped just right and broke my tailbone. It's worth the slight extra weight and time to put on.
You may not get hit too much in PIHA (though that seems to depend on your division...) but it's more about protecting your rump as it smacks into the floor every so often...
I'm using an Easton Synergy girdle right now and I like it, so long as it dries out between games... otherwise it's VERY heavy when wet. I had one of the Mission wrap girdles before, but unless you can get exactly the right size sometimes they're hard to get a good fit in, and feel a little sloppy.
