Going into the Stretch it's bitching about the rankings, followed by Curlin and street sense; and on the outside here comes wheres nationals, there deep into the stretch now half a furlong out, its still bitching about the rankings and where national is tight and at the wire out of nowhere comes Tommy Ames bites to beat them all. Bitchin about the rankings was second and wheres nationals finished third.

Betting Ames to win only paid 1:2 though, so was it really a good bet?

What else paid on the Superfecta?

Tommy Ames races as a slow plodding style, which lets him make a mad dash at the end of the race when the pace has been too quick. Definitely a mudder willing to come back on a sloppy track, but he was nowhere to be seen in the breeders cup. My money was on Street Sense in the KY derby and the Preakness (so I was 50-50); Curlin in the Belmont (who lost to rags to riches costing me a pick 4 ticket of $3500) and Curlin in the breeders cup which nailed me a $1500 pick 4. Look for Ames as a late entry in the Cigar Mile at Aqueduct November 24th and play him as a single in the pick 6.

Is Garret Gomez going to be in the saddle for that race?

Gomez is too good for that mount (doesn't that sound awful) and has been sticking to Hollywood Park. The Scott Hamilton idea is priceless, but I think the appropriate choice is Stuart Elliott. A) he races in Jersey, which is near Aqueduct so he will be available B) Stuart is always available because he is the sole reason Smarty Jones lost the triple crown C) I'm still mad as hell at Elliott because of B. Incidentally, did Tommy Ames ring the bell today on Wall Street?
