Hi, I have a quick question, for all PIHA members out there.
I currently run a tournament team, which as you can assume plays in only Narch, Torhs, Echo, etc events. A lot of my players have mentioned me starting a PIHA team. I think, due to the fact that I am a fully funded team, and I could do so for the PIHA team as well. My talent level for the team would be awesome, maybe not the best, but we definitely could compete. However, there is already a team playing out of my local rink. So my question is. Does Piha allow 2 teams two teams to play out of the same rink? i personally think PIHA is awesome, I would not want to hold the progress of its growth back. The only reason I ask is due to the OVERWHELMING growth in interest for me to do so for next season.

Hockkid13,
Where are you from? I know last season, there was more than one team playing out of the same rink in the St. Louis area and in the Rocky Mountain division as well. I'm not sure if its still like that, but I'm sure they'd consider it. Hope that helps.

Its funny that I can see this post and can tell the answer to both questions for both of you. Yes the league allows 2 teams to play out of 1 facility if the facilities management is okay with it. Now for the person posting this question! I can tell you right now that our facility will not allow two teams to be played out of it as the rink time isn't available to accomodate a second team.

Pat,
Just to clarify the four St. Louis teams play out of four different rinks.

I'm pretty sure you are able to have 2 teams at the same rink, (not to mention teams with 2 minors, which will play each other) I know some teams that are doing it this season.
By the way, you won't be able to use your team name/jerseys in tournaments anymore once you go PIHA. It's a hefty fine in such case, just so ya know.
So, where will your team be playing?

^^^I would have assumed that that should be a given, seeing as PIHA is a league set above tournaments.

The athletes on the team can play in non-PIHA events. They just can't use the PIHA team name/jerseys, from what I understand (because of the PIHA logo on the jerseys?). The Growl team who played at Winter Cup (and did very well) had players from the Growl, Bandits . . . not sure who else.

If I remember correctly, they played as the Ice Dogs (one of Mr. Flynn's former teams, I think).

They definately played as the ice dogs and gave a lot of the pro teams a good scare. That team if they stayed together on the tournament scene could become one of the best pro teams in the near future.

Lat year the Ice Dogs were entered in the Pro division with guys from the Growl and Bandits and they did very well. Finishing a shoot-out goal away from the finals.
2 years ago we entered as the Growl, with help from Steve Ying and Gary Kull and we actually went 3-0 beating Pama 4-3 before losing 3-1 i think in the semi's to them.

This is not the 100% truth. The league simply wants advanced notice when entering a PIHA named team into a tournament. We have done it for years. The league simply wants to make sure that its reputation is upheld.
As for the Ice Dogs team from Winters last year; It was called Ice Dogs to not confuse our PIHA team with that team. The players needed jerseys and a coach so I helped as I could. However, the year before we were entered in TORHS as the Growl because it was mostly our pro team. Again it was the same situation. We entered the tournament representing PIHA, just as several other teams did last year in Mens. We all had permission from the league to do this.

The Mass. Bombers entered last Torhs winters in Pro as well, didn't they?
Same situation, and all PIHA players represented the league VERY well regardless of who they played for, in my opinion.
Yeah, I was gonna say...because Connecticut Blaze used their PIHA name and jerseys in the USA Inline Cup in Vegas this month.
