Free clinics for MLRH, thats cool to see the competition MLRH is seemingly initiating with PIHA. This is healthy for the sport, Im really looking forward to the next five years of roller. Best of luck to both organisations, I suppose we will find out if MLRH has the staying power of PIHA. Theyve got some pretty big ground to cover, but then again I kinda idolize PIHA for its contributions so my visions kinda sloppy here. Anyway lets get some ideas goin back and fourth about how to put both thesse leagues on. Less fighting and more brainstorming yall.

fine ill do it myself then. First in creating an overarching approach to promoting the grassroots marketing, professional development (of individual player skills, and the market so as to finacialy liberate the next generation of Pro Inline players to further dedicate themaselves to the perfection of theyr craft) we need to have 1 a basic out look of the US economy, and its prospect for the next fews years (5 year forecast,and 10- year). Now my eyes are set tword the PIHA model, just for reference. Because of the philanthripotic nature of the both the players investment in time and money, -its moraly bogus to demand anything of them really- advanceing any idea must be done democraticly with in the teams, with due respect to players life goals as individuals with families they must provide for, stratgems may be desceminated in the form of suggestions from the central league office down to the respective teams and evaluated based on theyr feasibilty, with the owners coaches players excercising whatever degree of interpritable flexibility as needed to investigate theyr applicability to meet theyr overall needs, and goals.

I wont speculate on the economics because that has the tendency of bringn out the ladies. But if owners have an eye tword surging youth participation, Id recommend opening your rinks up 4-6 pm monday through Friday, and talkn to your Pros about rink sitting for that period, take a poll what guys can come what days and have them run it. Couple that with a 15-20$ discount on the next seasons Fees, 10 dollars off for every new player, what ever(for the kids of course).

Next have the players identify the dominant players in each skill set, then whoevers game start crosspollinating your talent. If possible try to link two or three guys together on a given day for rink sitting, let them develop each other. Obviously there is no glass ceiling to how much a player can improve, i will site the occurence of Neurogenesis as my case and point here (The growth of new Brain cells in adult mammals), as well as the activation of Plasticity, through the will, hockey is a game of emotion, and this should be understood and infused into players arsenal of training. its almost time to go skate, but if i have anymore (and i will) Ill be sure to hook it up.

Actually, I agree with nearly everything you've put forth, especially what I read as a de-facto "Players Association" concept of "democratically-decided" self-determination and participation (maybe even equity-based?) within whatever "Pro" leagues might start further blossoming and (hopefully) securing the means to actually be a "paid-to-play" league...(GEEZ, I hope I don't piss-off or upset any owners with this post!:eek:)

I guess the question for me is what defines taking the sport forward ...
So the elite guys can get paid to play?
So more kids enjoy the benefits of team sports and the life skills that teaches an individual from a young age ...... thus benefitting all of us. For example when I get in my car on a Monday morning and some drunk/drugged up teenager hasn't decided to kick my car wing mirror off because "there's nothing better to do round here"?

In my opinion, it is more facilites and access to a sport at a lower cost that is the answer. Rinks that are not only rinks but places kids can hang out and do something constructive with their time. So facilities that offer more than a rink. Places to go after school while mom and dad get home, that kind of stuff.

For those who want to make money out of the sport ... set up the facilites and strive to make them better than the rest. A "Pro" level will never take off to the level where many people could make a living through playing inline, long more estalished sports are failing/loosing money.

Again, this is all personal experience, but that is the benefit inline hockey had in my life for giving me direction & the value of a team.

The reasons I played inline .... 1) I could play everyday on the street if I wanted to 2) We could book a gym hall and play for 2 hours for the equivalent of $20 split between 10-15 guys ... so not much to play compared to Ice Hockey. 3) I was sh%t at football (soccer to you boys) so if I played a sport not many others played I had more chance of being good at it!!! 4) The early 90's boom of inline skating.

What am I saying ... lets do it for the kids!!!!! (imagine the song "bright eyes" when reading this post)
