ok, so I am a senior in H.S. this year, and I live in kansas. I am looking heavily at Kansas State as I like their program. I'm interested in majoring in a sport field, such as sports management or athletic training, or majoring in a music field, such as vocal music, music education etc. so I figured I would see if anyone knows of any schools in the central region that have good programs, or any in others that have the same and have decent music or sports programs? any and all help is greatly appreciated from anyone who will give it. abundant thanks

Hofstra has a great athletic training program, and with 10 major pro sports teams (Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Mets, Yankees, Jets, Giants, Knicks, Nets, and Red Bulls) as well as several mid-level pro teams (Arena League NY Dragons, WNBA NY Liberty, Major League Lacrosse Long Island Lizards and National Lacrosse League NY Titans) and numerous minor league baseball and basketball and D-League soccer teams (Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets affiliate), Staten Island Yankees (Yankees affiliate), and Long Island Ducks, among others) all in the vicinity- with the Jets actually located on the Hofstra campus, and the Islanders, Dragons, Lizards, and Titans all playing literally across the street- finding internships and jobs is slightly easier than in some other areas. Los Angeles is the only other city I can think of that comes close in the number of pro teams, but then again, there's no football there, which is where there are a LOT of internships and positions.

As far as music goes, I'm not too familiar with the program, but word on the street is that there are a few small music companies that have offices in New York City, which is half an hour from Hofstra's campus.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions about either of the programs, just shoot me an email- [email protected]

Truman has a really good program for Music Education (there's a 5 year Masters in Education program as well), and a decent business department (although it offers no specific majors along the lines of sports management). It's pretty affordable as well. You might even get in-state tuition of you're in KS.

Hockey program is solid as well. 2nd in Great Plains last year but had a poor showing at Nationals. Contact me at [email protected] if you want to make the hike up and practice with us (we have a small rink on campus).

Southeast Missouri State isnt too far from Kansas. We are one of the few nationaly acredited sports management schools in the country. The hockey team is getting better each year especially with the new system we have put into place.
