I'm curious. I wonder why there are no Long Island teams that play PIHA? With all that talent out there, you'd think there'd be at least 1 team in the league.

I'd guess it has something to do with how ridiculously expensive LI is. Hotels are $200 a night, rink time is incredibly expensive, it's a minimum of $40 per car in gas and tolls just to get off the island to go anywhere else. If a rink was willing to own a team, then you'd have a shot. Also, there are dozens of other professional sports teams on LI and in NYC in virtually every sport you can think of (there was professional cricket at one point) that it would be a huge battle for the almighty spectator dollar. Another plus for the rinks around here is that they then get a large amount of youth players in and try like crazy to sell seasons, clinics, and basically one-up the other local rinks.

I heard there were tryouts for a new Long Island team, anyone have any info on this? Has the team been picked? With all the talent around Long Island I"m curious as to who will be playing for them.
