does any one on here play there regularly? I just started in a summer league there and after one game, i look at my new wheels and bearings and bam they are covered in dust and sh*t. Is there anything out there to spray or something to protect from dust collecting in the bearings and what not? They use sport court i guess, not familiar with roller hockey too much, just getting into it (it's like these tiles, basically looks like a giant checkerboard, you know what i mean.)

i play there regularly, and I'm in the summer league too. What team are you on?
Yea their floor there is a mess, your hweels/bearings will constantly be covered in dust. Best thing I can tell you is to clean them regularly. I try to take my skates apart every few weeks and clean everything, soak the bearings and what not. Our surface isn't as fast as the ice-court or whatever its call, so you don't need any other factors making you slower. I suggest keep your bearings/wheels clean. Clean them, and after just one game you will see how filthy they are, you can't let it go for too long.

haha i'd love to, if it wasn't almost an hour from my house. NERC and Sportsplex are both 10 min from me.
Problem with NERC is they do their indoor soccer on the same rink. Therefore people track things onto the rink, and the maintenance is NOT kept up. If it was cleaned few times a week, it wouldn't be bad. But your lucky if you get a push broom on that surface to clean it up let alone a floor zamboni.

hey im in the sunday league, bronze division, Team Cannon (but we aren't cannon at all, lost our first game 10-3 lol) It was our first game together and we were all up til 6am drinkin hahah surprised we all made the game. I'm #11 on the team, but I can't actually play for the next 3 weeks, I'm gettin surgery on my eyes. What team/division you in?
Last sunday was the first time i used these new wheels and bearings so I know exactly how dirty that place is, with all the friggin dust on me and my brothers new stuff, I'm pretty sure that rink is now cleaned hahh. Seriously though, has there ever been anyone to complain about how dirty it is?

This is a much talked about subject at many rinks. In my days I have spent time maintaining two seperate rink on a day to day basis. If you clean your rink daily, you just wont have this problem. However, in many places that isn't done and it creates the following problem in my opinion. When people say "It's dirty cause the soccer people bring it on the rink", that is not neccessarily true. 95% of the stuff on the rink is the broken down particles of our wheels on the surface. When you don't clean the rink regularly, it builds up and begins being transfered OFF the rink. Those particles then get dumped back onto benches, locker rooms, and other high traffic areas of your rink. That is what is then being reintroduced by soccer, dek hockey, or any other on foot sports players. So even if a rink cleans a rink once a week, there is usually so much crap still in the rink that it is easily tracked back onto the playing surface. A poor surface like the one at NERC only magnifies the problem. The seems between tiles in many areas are warped and can only speed up the deterioration of our wheels, creating extra garbage on the rink. In my one and only league played there, about six weeks, I chunked 5 wheels, two in one period.
Now as a player I have found a decent solution to keeping the gunk out of your skates, when this problem is presented. Use a can of compresed air and shoot the dust out of your frame. You can get these at any computer store or office supply store. While this is effective, don't over use it or you can dry out your bearings. I also dont recommend direct contact with the bearings themselves.

i agree Anthony, the compressed air works well for cleaning. But yea, the rinks maintenance HAS to be upkept or you will continue to run into this problem.
Thompson, I play summer bronze weeknights in this league. I play on Roadkill. My normal team is Motherpuckers, we took the summer off. but come fall my Motherpuckers team will be back in the weeknight Bronze.
