Yes you may try out at age 15 according to league rules, but you must be 16 years of age by the first game that you play. (notice that I did not say 16 years old by the first game of the season, however, hardly likely that if you turn 16 that any team would give you a valuable roster spot into the season. Keep in mind too that a team can make their own sub-laws that may state that unless you are 16 you may not try out for their team. As long as it is within the realm of the rules of PIHA in accordance with the age requirement. EXAMPLE: A team may say, no player under age 16 may try out, teams choice. Another team may say a player may be 15 years of age, as long as he turns 16 by game one in December, also teams choice. How each team governs their tryouts may vary from team to team. A team could also say, we have our Minor team already filled, we do not wish to conduct tryouts for that team, or they may not wish to accept a player under age 18, also their choice. So when attending tryouts, please check with each team for what they are looking for in players. Do so on their websites or announcements, contact them as well to find out all the details. Im sure that most GM's across PIHA will gladly give you details.
