Referees...and league ideas

Hello all,

Can someone please tell me what ideas their leagues use or do to recruit/maintain senior officials to ref their older divisions?

Also, what are some ideas out there that leagues use to promote the sport of inline hockey locally? (promos, advertising ideas, etc.)

As a long time official, I can tell you that most places dont back up the officials and take care of the customer - FI...A player recieves a game misconduct, complains about the official, the league director lets them play the next game - In this sport, the customer isnt always right....Also, is there a pay scale at your facility...most officials in cities I travel are under paid - Most facilites out east are paying $20 or more (most cash and I ve seen $25 a game), some in the midwest and out west and some up in the far north east are paying $15 or more... and for some places it gets crazy and its not worth it

As far as as league promotion, creating new consistant ideas have worked for me. If you are running the programs and personally involved with the parents and people, educating them...the program runs well...the word of mouth will get around. As far as programs depends on what you are looking to do and what times you have....Public skating times, birthday parties, power skating, stick handling, shooting, goalie clinics, learn to play clinics for kids, adults....I can go on....depends
