First off, hats off to the South Side Snipers. These guys can play hockey. We haven't played a team that fast all year. I can see why they were the Western Confernece Champs. It was a pleasure playing against you.
Second, mad props to my teammates. We faced adversity all season long and managed to pull it out. To play with guys like Jeff Goulet, straight up nasty, Rodney Millette, playoff MVP, and rightly deserved, Darryl Interbartolo, one of the leagues best defensemen, Pete Pennekee, hands down one of the best goaltenders in the league, Jay McGowen, who if there was a defensemen of the year award, would have won it, in my opinion, votes ahead of anyone, Tony King, Mike Whitney, Scott St Cyr, Paul Rogers, Joe Brennen, Glenn Squillicotti, Dan Liberty, Gerald Cioffi and Kevin Yemokis, was truly a pleasure. The beginning of the season people were telling us that a MLRH team couldn't compete with PIHA teams. Well we competed and won. To win both leagues back to back, I must say, is quite an accomplishment.
As an organization, we would again like to sincerely thank Karin Pedersen for all of her hard work in making this event a success. I hope the gift and team signed card displays our sincerity. To the stick boys, who I must say, were paid quite handsomely by us, for keeping water, our extra sticks, tape and anything else we needed at the ready. And to all the little fans, these kids were great, they cheered for us all weekend long. These kids were amazing. From the minute we walked into the building on day one, until the time we left for good, these kids wanted nothing but an autograph, handshake and a thank you. They truly made the finals for me a memorable one.
