View Full Version : Softer Comp Blades for Roller?
05-22-2007, 01:00 PM
I was wondering what stick blades you guys out there use for roller?
I have used the "Focus Flex" Easton's for a while, but find the puck hops up quite a bit due to the stiffness of the blade when recieving passes.
I am thinking the cheaper/softer comp blades (Bauer V2 or TPS Genesis etc etc) may be the answer.

Call me a bit partial . .but look at the Sande sticks. . the "SHOW" and Heatseeker models both are designed to control exact what you mentioned. read a bit more about it if you want http://sandehockey.com/the-twigs.html

a bit partial lol?
best blade out there right now might be the mission v-hex blade, but it retails for 65 bucks... too bad they don't make their vds blades for replacements because they're just sick. you might try the mission zed-core blade for around 40 bucks. haven't used it but have read good reviews... rbk 7k/6k are also decent, but pricey... stay away from anything ccm, very stiff, no feel. synthesis II blades are pretty good in terms of feel but lack durability like whoa. i really liked the easton si-core blades, but they're out of production... haven't tried and recent nbh or tps blades, but i hear the R8 blade is high quality...

Cheers for the replies guys. Tapered shafts and blades are hard to come across in the UK as a lot of the importers don't bother bringing them in. As I go for a Z-Bubble and blade set up (I can't justify the OPS price for my standard, it can't make that much of a difference at my level of play) do Mission make the Hex stuff in a standard blade? I've only seen the V-Hex in tapered?
If so, could you point me in the direction of a website with standard fit mission Hex/pulse blades, that would be awesome.

my bad i should have realized you needed a standard blade when you mentioned the z-bubble/focus flex combo. i rocked that for about 3 straight years playing ice hockey...
the TPS R6 and R4 blades are standard hosel. none of missions new blades come in standard hosel at the moment. I don't like the Warrior AK27, not much feel or durability in my experience with it. The NBH Vapor XXX lite wood blade looks like it might be decent... for wood... NBH One50 is also standard, haven't heard anything about it...
if you want some more recommendations, you might want to try http://www.modsquadhockey.com. I always point people in that direction for equipment purposes. best gear review site anywhere bar none...

Thanks Snake ... I do check out modsquad pretty often, but as with all things hockey, I guess it's just personal pref?
Problem is finding PP can cost a whole lot of money on the way!
Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking about the XXX Wood as I like the P106 or the Perry curve TPS do, so think will try both those two you suggested. Just wish wood wouldn't bust up so quick and flex too much.
I am getting burried with my Z-Bubbles, even if they don't have a blade in the shaft
