Well I go to community college (CCP - Community College of Philadelphia) and can't afford to go anywhere else so I can't play college roller hockey anywhere else. I think I should be allowed to play for a college somewhere around me since I fufill the minimum credit requirement but whatever I'm not gonna cry, I'm gonna try to do something about it. Can a community college have a roller hockey team? what are the requirements for any college to have a team?

You can play Division III.

Division III
• Non Four-year schools (Community, Junior College, etc.) shall be classified as Division III programs.

There's a lot of work that goes into it, though. You'll need to read this doc - http://www.ncrha.org/pps-medias/4262.pdf and you're going to want to contact a league admin to get the info you'll need ASAP. It's a decent chunk of change to play if the school doesn't support you, so try and get a team together and figure out if you guys can swing it.

BTW, that's not to say you can't. I'm just trying to emphasize that you'll want to get as much leg work done as soon as possible if you want to get in for next season.

thompson1ner,

As Justin said, yes it is allowed. Several community colleges are competing across the nation. At this year's National Championships, we had 6 junior/community college teams competed for the Division III National Championship.

Send me an email at [email protected] and I can get you more information, and put you in touch with a representative from that area.

Community Colleges play in Division III of the NCRHA. All players must attend the CC and must carry a minimum of 6 credits to play each semester.
