What do you guys think is the best tie breaker? Traditionally people use GA...but is that the best reflection of your performance over your opponent? What about goal differential? I have played under both formats...and can see the pros/cons with both.
Say you lose a game 5-0. 5 GA
Compare that to a 11-10 loss. 11 GA
Most likely, you were in the 11-10 loss to the very end and a "bad bounce" or call decided the game. However, it hurts you statistically much worse when you use GA...even though it was a closer game than the 5-0 loss.
On the other hand, goal differential will encourage teams to run up the score.
It seems that goal differential will more closely quantify how closely you played your opponents. You can also overcome (by scoring) goals that you have given up in the past.
Just wanted to get some other peoples input
