If suspensions are meant to be a deterrent, how come PIHA does not post them on their web site? Is it left up to word of mouth to disseminate information regarding the leagues stance as far as discipline is concerned?

I see both sides on this one. From a player standpoint I want to know who got what and for doing what. Its the only way everyone can know whats going on and there are no secrets. I can also understand why PIHA would not want to post suspensions or major penalties, its a black mark against the league to have a suspension board posted with 15 names on it.

What should happen is the league should post on the web site the rulebook and what each suspendable offense carries so its not taken a per player basis. The only thing I dont like is if someone gets jumped on the rink they also recieve a fighting major. We should all video the games so if there is a incident the league can review it and do the right thing.

This seems to be reason number 486 why the PIHA league and its players need a more private forum somewhere, such as here on IHC.

I think this might kill a lot of the chatter on the current Professional forum, but it would also allow satisfaction of both sides of issues such as this one...

I know the ECRHA is operating under this format for its message boards, perhaps it is time we pick up the practice as well? What do you guys think?

Drexel63 - I don't think I understand your position regarding suspensions.

Are you saying that there should be a "private forum" somewhere for the league to post suspensions that would only be accessible for a select group to view and discuss?

I think he's saying that there should be a private arena where those involved w/the league can gather to discuss league issues. Correct me if that's not what you mean.

I absolutely agree. A public forum such as this is one is meant for fun, talk about teams, etc. Any important league issues should not be posted here.

Dave - When you say "league issues", do you mean issues being discussed between league administrators and team representatives (ie. Coaches and Players) ?

Or, do you mean the open discussion of issues whom some may consider sensitive and could possibly shed a negative light on the league?

Or, do you mean something entirely different?

The league should send a weekly email to all the coaches and owners listing who is on suspension and who was added/dropped from rosters.

Best way to handle it. No need to post it on IHC or the web.
This way, the communication comes from the league and there is no heresay,etc....

Sounds good to me. This way you know which players on the opposing team are on suspension.

even better, as the league grows and evolves there could be a 'waivers' list each week or month where teams could pick up players.

Add it to your list of topics to be discussed at our first post season meeting. I think that is a great idea.
