Like the ranknigs. But What about MSU? They finished 10-4-1. They tied western in league play. However, western lost to teams that MSU dominated, they lost to MSU 14-2 in regionals, and although western has 6 less goals against than MSU, MSU has over 20 more goals for. Also MSU finished above UofM in league standings, and the only losses besides OCC, who were undefeated, were those lost to UofM. But UofM had a worse season, losing to lower end teams, and didn't even show up to play against OCC. And as for eastern even being in that poll doesnt make sense. The three teams from B midwest should be Western, UofM, and MSU.

i would like for someone to please inform me of how MSU blows. Im not saying that UofM should not be going, YES they should, but looking at the stats, i would like to know how anyone can say that MSU sucks and doesn't deserve to go. They lost to both Western and Eastern, whom MSU beat, and they tied Michigan Tech, in which MSU also beat. the only close stat is that against OCC both teams have a difference of 2 goals total for and against. UofM scored 9 and had 28 scored on them in three games. MSU scored 11 and had 30 scored on them. Not to mention that MSU out scored UofM by 17 goals and only had 1 more goal against them than UofM. However, to that note, UofM did play one more game to throw off that stat. I think both should go, along with western, but there is no reason to say that MSU sucks and shouldnt go.

They're from UofM. What do you expect?

yeah I was basically just talking sh*t, but if you really want to get into it.....the Western team we played was not the same Western team you played. Western was much better earlier in the year before their A team pulled guys up. That was the team we played. The team you beat second semester was much weaker and probably doesn't belong at nationals. The tie against Michigan Tech sucked, but we were without our goalie and had to have a guy show up who hadn't played before. Losing to EMU was disappointing and we just couldn't score that game, but we did beat them twice last weekend. Which brings me to you guys who we're 2-0 against this season. Do you guys blow? Ok fine, you don't blow, you just suck. You guys had a pretty good season though, and have a pretty good shot at getting into Nats. I wouldn't worry too much about the rankings, they don't mean much.

Just a note of interest:
Long Beach State only has one loss. The other loss came in an Exhibition game against Division 1 #3 ranked UC Irvine 7-5. That same weekend Long Beach beat Arizona State (D1) in an Exhibition 12-8. Arizona beat Div 1 CSU San Bernardino and Division 1 Chapman that same weekend!

Neumann has no losses this season and beat DI Towson and Rutgers

Truman has one loss to UMSL

UMSL has one loss to Truman

UT Dallas has one loss as well

Im not sure what your point is exactly.

U of M is way better than MSU and U of M state combined minus M of U +/- state.

Also, those exhibition games between Arizona State and the 2 D1 teams were really very lackluster, as San Bernardino and Chapman both had games that counted towards standings after their Arizona games, respectively... Not to discredit Arizona State, or Long Beach for that matter, but the difference in play was apparent.

Just to qualify, I do think that Long Beach could definately hang with the upper echelon (UC Irvine, Cal Poly SLO, UC Davis) of WCRHL D1.

I'm not doubting that they can. I'm sure they are much improved over last season. The way that the post was sent seemed to me like someone thought that they were being slighted or people weren't given them respect. That's why i asked for clarification.

Was just making an observation. Wasn't sure if the rankings were taking into account games played against tough D1 teams. Great to see all the responses though. All the interest will help with the growth of college roller hockey. Good luck to all teams in regionals and nationals!

I personally don't care who they lost to. To go 19-2-0 is impressive in its self. Especially from a tough region like the WCRHL, with the likes of Nevada. Now Nevada may be down this year, no idea. But im sure Long Beach will be tough for anyone to beat. But when you have an undefeated Neumann (30+ game unbeaten streak, defending national champions) and Truman who only lost to UMSL (national runner up last season). I think #3 for Long Beach is great, especially since i would rank UMSL so much higher with some of the players that have on that team.

I really hope to see some of the West Teams soon...and if not...maybe the school will pay for us to spend some time in Southern Cal next season.

My b team has played a few D2 teams this year including Nevada and Long Beach, and long beach will be a big team to watch for this year at nationals

National Rankings will be released Mid-Week after bids have been announced.

National Rankings will be released Mid-Week after bids have been announced.

Out of curiosity what's the logic behind this? I thought the idea was, that they are independent rankings. Wouldn't waiting to see who has bids, influence the independent thoughts?

i have to agree. post the rankings now.

WeakSauce

I'd think that one could possibly be influential over the other in either case (if only in the slightest amount). Since the rankings don't really mean anything, but the bids mean basically everything, the rankings should wait and be the one that is possibly influenced.

I think what I just wrote makes sense...

Yea we did pretty much goof off during our exhibition games, especially against ASU, when we had our three top scorers missing and our goaltender

But regardless ASU and UNLV could hang in division 1

After getting Numerous E-Mails, the IRC has decide to do special pre-nationals ranking.

The purpose of these rankings are to determine who is the #1-#20 in the tournament. Sort of like the NCAA tourney. But a little diffrent since there are 20 teams in the tournament.

The rankings will change for the duration of nationals only.

At the conclusion of that national tournament. A final Rankings will be released, returning to the current format.

any questions or suggestions please post them here or email them to [email protected]

I played for the Arizona State team at that WCRHL tourney...1) Long Beach State can definitely hang with the top D1 teams. 2) I understand teams missing players (so were we, we had 6 skaters in that game and have 12 on our roster for next year), but there was an awful lot of sh*t talking and physical play for a "lackluster" or goofing-off game. I'm not one to talk a lot of crap, but just qualifying things here, we were missing our premier players too.

that game was lackluster, well at least I know it was. I know our A game that was about our D+ game. Which is why we were smiling, joking and having a good time on every face off even when we were down like 8-3 or whatever. So please don't judge our performance as a team on that game alone, we did take down the regions number 1 team 7 - 3 at regionals and went on to win the whole region.

And as far as the physical play goes? are you serious? You guys are a good team, but expect a lot more then one or two rubs along the boards as physicaly play dude.

Haha, alright, whatever you say man. We'll see what's being said a year from now.
