Brian Hartman from Niagra U... i played with his little brother Danny for a season, they're from here, Pittsburgh. Anyone from richmond to comment about this? has he played much inline? even if he hasn't i'm sure he'll be a huge help for the team and would learn pretty quick... adding players like this is always good for the league...

Brian just recently moved down here to Richmond. Only a year or two out of Niagara, he's been tearing up the local leagues here, and he should get his first looks with us against Harrisburg this weekend. We are excited to give Brian an opportunity to play in the PIHA; his addition is definitely a big boost to our team.

Hows does that work with adding players halfway through the season: As far as Playoffs/eligibility, is there a grace period or is that only if the player is released or traded from another team?

I believe the player has to play something like 20 games during the regular season to be eligible for the playoffs...so if we were to make it brian would be ineligible this season....im not completely sure though, someone correct me if i'm wrong...

20 games is the set number to be eligible for making the playoffs...

the roster add/change process needs to be modified for next season... instead of a set "date," there should be a "transfer window," which is borrowed from professional soccer in europe. Basically the roster is completely frozen except during this time. For PIHA, i would basically recommend a 1 or 2 week period somewhere around 8-12 games played for each team. It doesn't make sense to have single date, because teams aren't sure what they can and can't do before the deadline, but i like that you would have to wait from say a pre-season roster set date until the window to make changes. Also, the number of games played should be adjusted if you are added during the window. If you have to play 20 games from the start of the season, then you only have to play 16 from the end of the window. this could lead to where sometime in the future of the league, and by future i mean way way future lol, you would be able to open another transfer window sometime around the 2/3 mark of the season that would act as a "trade deadline" period. obviously we're nowhere near ready for that on a league level, but there are a handful of situations where teams play in close proximity and could theoretically exchange players without too much inconvenience... Also i don't think the IR rule is quite perfect yet. if you have an injury and can verify it via some official document, you can have up to 8 games counted against your 20 mandatory games player, leaving 12 games needed to be played... i think it's all well and good in its purpose, but it casts kind of a wide net over all possible injuries, no? i mean it would really suck to have to tell a kid, hey dont rush back from that injury, you wont be able to play in the post season anyway... since the league is so fond of case by case review from their fighting policy, maybe for injuries where this would actually affect ones season, they could look into it a little further. i know there are some people out there who this is affecting this season and if you're not trying to cheat the system, i dont think you should be penalized...

Just a couple of suggestions, but as the league grows, these are things that need to be addressed...
