Since we are about 1/3 of the way through the regular season, lets get a look at what peoples opinions are on the top 8 teams nationwide.

I dont believe standings speak for themselves, because many teams have lost games due to missing key players, injuries, etc.

And while were at it, who right now is making a strong case for themselves for MVP, MVD, MVG. I know Yingling is playing great right now out west, and Sullivan is always a contender, but who else?

Lets hear everyones opinions

he may be silent, but deadly...and no one may kno a lot about this guy, but i think Eric Bogenrief has a shot at MVD if whoever is deciding gives the west a look...call me crazy...we'll c?

here are my early pics.

1. Pittsburgh Bandits
2. Philadelphia Growl
3. Midwest Tornados
4. Pikes Peak Prowlers
5. Harrisburgh Lunatics
6. Fort Collins Catz
7. Connecticut Blaze
8. Southside Snipers

MVP = Brian Yingling MVG = Kyle Mikel MVD = Casey Dreux?

This is as honest as i could be. Hard for me to put the Catz higher just because of the amount of games they have played. However they did sweep the Blizzard and thats not easy, plus with only one loss i cant leave them off the list. I will see you soon Thede, haha! Here kitty kitty!!

I hope this year they give each team a vote for these awards. As great a season both CJ and Brian are having, it would be tough to give either them an MVP award if there team didnt make the playoffs. I'd have to give the early nod to Johnny Pinheiro, who has carried the scoring load and has the Blaze in good shape in a very tough division. Also could give Dustin Roux some consideration, but then you'd have to consider Sullivan. I think an award like that should go to a player like Johnny or like Clemens last season, who was vitual to the teams success. It will also be tough to give it to Roux or Sullivan when they both have such strong supporting casts. Just my two sense. If the Minutemen make the playoffs Kyle D'Aloisio could be a candidate for a league award.

I think the playoff races in the Northeast and Mason Dixon is going to be very very interesting. Thats what we should be discussing. Who is going to make the playoffs in these divisions?

I know this has been discussed before, but how many teams from each division make the playoffs? Also, how do the playoffs work?

To me this seems like information that should be on the PIHA website, maybe it is and I just don't know where.

Top four teams from each division make the playoffs. First two rounds are inter-division and played at the higher seeded team's rink (best of 3).

Conference Finals are nuetral location and will determine the two teams that go to Florida.

So that means Rocky Mountain division champion plays Canadian West division champion in the Western Conference Finals, but then how do the Eastern Conference Finals work out? Since there will be division winners from Gateway, Mason Dixon, and Northeast...

Colorado will play the midwest division to decide the western champion.

Well right now the Midwest Division is in the Eastern Conference. I heard that the Midwest would move over to the Western Conference if the Canadian teams ended up dropping out. Does anyone know for sure?

If the Canadian teams drop out it is merely a matter of timing. They do want to play and as far as I know still trying to work out the details, but i'd have to say it doesnt look good. I'd expect that Gateway will be moved to Western Conference.

So, we're assuming Canada is going to drop out then? If they don't, I still don't know what the league's plan is for the playoffs. Regardless of who goes to what conference, you have 5 division champions. Someone would have to receive a bye.

they will what?? receive a bye to the finals? i thought with the Canadian teams out then it will leave four divisions....Northeast wud play Mason-Dixon and West would play Gateway. Is that right or not?
