Whick Undefeated team will lose their first game of the season first, Philadelphia Growl or Pittsburgh Bandits?

Philly plays = NJ Grizzlies on the 20th, then the following weekend they have four difficult games against NJ Minutemen and NJ Grizzlies again in one day.

Pitt plays = York Typhoon on the 26th, and a very tough Harrisburg Luantics team on the 27th.

I know the growl is a great team and could very well go undefeated if all there players show all season, But the bandits from what I have heard have 16 home games to start the season and they are a very tough team to beat
at there rink so u never know but I think the Bandits can beat the Tics in two weeks. I guess the Bandits will stay perfect longer

I'm tempted to say they both remain undefeated until they meet in the conference finals...

In my opinion Undefeated is unlikely in this league. To many chances for an upset.

yeah i would say that undeated for both teams in unlikely... possible yes... but the lunatics are more then capable of beating Pitt and a team like conn, boston or isca could upset us... i think Pitt and us are the two best teams in those divisions right now... BUT anything can happen, that's why we play the games, otherwise the best 2 teams on paper would be send to the finals

We can probably judge better after all of the teams play each other once to see who is capable of beating each other. All it takes is one team to be down a key player or two and things can change. I know we haven't had our whole team at a game yet, not saying we will go undefeated just that it's possible for all the teams to go through the same issues. Once all the qualifiers and regionals start teams may be down a whole line or some players and that should have an impact on some games.

Well the Growl lost yesterday to the Grizzlies 4-3

did i not predict that they could do that? we took them so lightly and look what happened...

I dont know about took us lightly, you smoked us 7-1 in the first game. If you took us lightly I think we would have won the first game and than you would have won the 2nd. We got a couple of bounces (2 posts late in the game) in the 2nd game and our goaltender played very well.

Well I am going to throw in my two cents on this topic. I wasn't much a part of the games, as I was very busy running the show behind the scenes, but one thing did stand out to me. In between games, as Bianca was singing her mini concert, the Growl was scattered around the rink with their friends and family watching. I did not see a single Grizzlie watching Bianca's performance, which tells me that while the Growl was basking in the Glory of a 7-1 and enjoying the return of Bianca, the Grizzlies were probably in the locker room being refocused by their coaching staff and coming up with a better plan of attack.

I think that was our problem. Even though it took us a while to get rolling, we beat you guys 7-1 in the first game. We just didn't play the same in the second game. We came out flat and possibly expecting a similar game. You guys were determined to not lose. The Grizzlies played the way they needed to, in order to win (low shots against/capitalize on scoring chances). If you ask me, two totally different games. Of course, lots of credit to the Grizzlies who were missing key players to begin with and got the split. I can't help but feel that we (Growl) beat ourselves in that 2nd game, I know the goaltending wasn't up to par... :p

Definitely no excuses though, if you don't come ready to play you will lose in this league. We needed a little taste of that.

We did regroup in the lockerroom in between games, 7-1 was embarrassing, we felt we played a great first half only to fall apart in the 2nd. We knew we were short key guys and we wanted to keep the games close and be able to say we played well for 48 minutes.

Atleast we know you guys will be all fired up to play us this coming Saturday. Hopefully "all hands will be on deck" for this one.

so like i posted earlier, we took you guys lightly... we didn't play well the first game and smoked you guys and everyone thought it was going to be the same game, so we went out there with a careless attitude and look what happened... we did hit 3 total posts in the game... but can't blame the game on that, nick b. played one of the better games that i have seen him play... so congrats on the 2 points, espcially missing some decent talent... i won't be at the games this weekend, but i'm sure you will be facing a much different Growl team...

I hear alot of excuses from growl89, we played bad but still won 7-1, we didnt show up to play, we hit three post. Heres a good excuse we got beat by a team that was better than us in that game.

Doesn't sound like excuses to me, sounds like an explaination of why the Grizzlies were better in game 2. And an added compliment that they did it a bit short handed.

Congrats to the Grizzlies, no need to make a big deal. As stated here several times before, no one is expected to go 32-0 in this league, with 24 minute games.

did i not say that they out played us? and why did they out play us? because they were focussed and we took them lightly... now you can take that how you want, but that's the truth... if you were at the games you would realize that we did not play well in the 7-1 win... the grizzlies just had a 6 minute lapse that led to us capatilizing, grizzlies had way more chances... if you weren't at the games then it's tough to say anything about them really... i had a good view from the bench, trust me...

im not taking anything away from the grizz... they outplayed us for most of the night and their goaltender was great in game 2... now we have to wake up and see we arent going 32-0...

the league is too talented and the games too short to go undefeated and that's all there is to it. you hit some posts, you run into a hot goalie, you get into penalty trouble...there are way too many ways to lose these short games. that's why our league is the best there is and will be for years to come. bottom line.
