From the UK and considering college in the US, looked at U of Michigan, Michigan State, University of Minnesota. I know that the first two schools offer roller hockey program but to be honest its about the academics first.
Just wondering, what is the overall standard for the whole of the NCRHA?
Thanks

Every school (save Lindenwood) is ALL about academics. You have to be a student, you have to be at all your classes, and the fact that you're a roller hockey player meand zero to pretty much every professor. You might be able to get a hand in admissions, but don't expect to come in far below their standards and get any help. It'll help that you're an international student. But really, roller hockey in the US, at least as far as it's involvement with the academic end of the school, is far from that of NCAA sports.

That being said, it's still a fantastic opportunity to step right in and have something to do, people to meet, and people to support you as you first make it into the US. All other things being equal, I'd pick the school with the roller hockey program any day.

Academics and the overall quality of the school should be first. However if you can narrow it down to 2-3 schools that you like and one of them has a roller hockey program, I don't see anything wrong with going with that school. Just make sure you would still enjoy being at the school if roller hockey didn't work out (dinosaur attack or something). As AJ said, you will make a lot of good friends at the school by playing and it will give you something to do. Unless you are a jerk, you will make some good friends on other teams in the league too.

Nono, schools just like to have international students for whatever reason. Addds to the culture, spreads the name across continental lines, and I'm sure there's some kind of financial reason. Schools loooove to say "we have students from all 50 states and 2390753967 countries", so you'd just be adding to that.

Regardless, I'd go to Michigan in a heartbeat if I had the cash.
