big weekend coming up with MSU and Ohio State battling again...

whats wrong with Eastern? They went from powerhouse to not being able to beat anyone?

MSU looks as good as ever in my 4 years in the league...first 2 forward lines are awesome...defense is their only possible weakness, which is solved if Jung plays (also adds to their offense)...Think they definetly have a legitimate chance at beating Lindenwood

OSU has some very good players and will suprise teams at Nattys

Purdue is a scrappy team that works hard...also will surprise some teams at nationals

UofM is the same team as the past few years...average but have the opportunity to win games against teams like OSU and Purdue

Miami has some good players and can do some damage

Macomb and GVSU should improve in the next couple years

hasnt been much talk about the MCRHL just wanted to see what everyone else thought

I noticed that there is only 3 d2 team (Northern Illinois, Grand Valley, and Ball State) in the MCRHL with all simular records, which team has the best chance of going to Nationals if any?

Also is anyone going to beat MSU and who has the best chance of doing that?

I am really excited to watch the Michigan State/Ohio State game this weekend.

Michigan State isn't flawless, they have the talent to win the MCRHL.

But, i still don't think they are close enough to Lindenwood.

They might win 1 out of 5 games against Lindenwood.

There are a few teams that i've seen this year that can skate with Lindenwood, and a few that can't.

MSU is one of the teams that can. And they should give them a great game, that i would pay money to see.

The problem with teams, is they aren't willing to play the type of game needed to beat Lindenwood.

If your going to beat them, you must beat the 2-1 or 4-3...

To many teams try to run and gun vs Lindenwood, and it makes the game interesting for like 1 or 2 periods...(Lindenwood vs Penn State in the NCT)

I agree, Purdue is scrappy, but can be beaten by most teams in the MCRHL i think. OSU, MSU and Mich are all very capable teams of beating Purdue, even Miami (OH) pulled off a win. Don't really get how they made the rankings.

Excited to see the outcome of the MSU/OSU game. Should be a great one. I'm pulling for OSU

Michigan and Miami are my picks for the sleepers this year. Miami is already having a stellar season (compared to last year when they were aweful) and Michigan has the ability to pull off some close wins.

It'll be fun to see how everything pans out as the rest of the year moves on

Who is the best D2 team in the MCRHL? Is there any team that is even worth anything?

I know this is a bit early, but any predictions for the Jan 20 weekend i for MCRHL?

This thread is getting a little dead, just thought I'd try to get it going again.

Anybody know if anyone has re-stocked for the second semester push? I can't really see anyone making to much noise at nationals. Sure State will do well but I don't think they are as strong as last year.

Let's see how MSU does at the NCT in the "Post-Mack" era. Wish the boys luck! GO STATE!

This NCT is going to be very interesting for sure. I feel that most regions have had drastic changes in the past few years, mine is no exception. I think the university of flordia is the only team in my region who hasnt lost players in the past year.

UF didn't lose players? They certainly don't look like last year's team...

How will the DII bid from the MCRHL be decided this year with Ball State, Grand Valley State and Northern Illinois all being DII...?

The grammar of the write-up on the website is awful. Did anyone see the Michigan State/Michigan game this past weekend who can provide a better recap of it?

Did MSU play bad, did Michigan play well, or are these two evenly matched?

Probably the best game in the MCRHL all season. State played like State and we(Michigan) played like we're supposed to. Pretty evenly matched. MCRHL is deep this year! Come playoff time all of the first round match-ups could really go either way.

not quite like that post above. MSU came out sluggish and looking like crap. They were not a team at all, their passing was crap and their play was crap. On top of all that, UofM's goalie is what kept them in the game, he played outstanding, while MSU's i cant quite say the same for letting in several easy bad angel shots. As for evenly matched. If you look at the stats and games played previously, MSU should have walked all over UofM. However, on top of amazing goal tending and a horrible lack of team effort by MSU, UofM did play a good game by most team standards. Their passing was on and the team played well together. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future, but overall I would say that MSU should have had no problem with UofM and should have the hardest time with OCC (as everyone does) and Western who hasnt played a game in a while but is playing in Feb, where as MSU does not have another game untill Regionals. It was a classic case of a team coming out underestemating their opponent, not taking them seriously, and getting a wake up call that if you dont play like you can, you'll lose to teams you shouldn't.

I was talking about the A-game clown, as I'm pretty sure the previous poster was. The B-game which you were refering to the better team clearly won.

yep, sorry you're deffenatly right, i did not know that UofM tied MSU. but looking back on box scores im sure that was the game that they were talking about. As for the b game, not so much fun to watch due to the horiffic play by msu. Although watching UofM's goalie stone MSU was entertaining. Wish i could have seen the A game.

Any thoughts about the EMU v. MSU game last weekend? 1st loss for MSU, are we going to see a repeat of the last few years at regionals? Is EMU back? Thoughts and comments....

paddymac

Great game to watch. Both teams played well. EMU picked up about 7 guys at the semester break and several of them play pro. They're good, unfortunately for them though I can't see them making nationals unless they win our league tournament. I wouldn't expect an MSU meltdown, but they could lose another game or two before nationals. MCRHL is deep this year....all of the first round match-ups could realistically go to either team. Should be the most exciting tournament yet.

Seems like every time EMU, MSU, of UM play each other, it's a great game. In the 6 games this year in which two of these three have played each other, the grand total in goal differential is 6:

2 ties
2 1-goal victories
2 2-goal victories

and it seems like this past weekend had three great games, since they all played each other!

Anyone with thoughts from Regionals. Another big win for EMU taking the MCRHL Haschel Cup home for the 4th season in a row!! Way to keep the streak alive!!! What about the B division mess....UofM forefiting the final game of the tournament becasue a bunch of their guys leaving for spring break and OCC not being able to get anything out of the deal anyway because of their affiliate status this season....what a mess.... This was the first event I was able to attend all season and I'm glad I could make it happen...many exciting games espically that EMU v. MSU championship game!! The league, in my opinion, has declined in overall talent, but it has provided for more exciting games and more competition between games. I would have said that it was anyones game in the D1 division, but good to see the leagues best rivalry make it to a nail biter final! Once again congrats to EMU on the 4-peat!!

Rumor has it that Eastern Michigan University has teamed up with the University of Phoenix online. They plan to win their 5th consecutive MCRHL championship next year by enrolling the entire Swedish National Team in a graduate level program online, a fool-proof plan indeed. They are only required to take 3 credits, because the other 3 credits required for eligibility are not available either semester.

If the Swedish Team plan does not work, they will continue their usual recruiting system by visiting Orchard Lake Retirement Home, to find players of similar age to this year's squad.

Possible corporate sponsorships for their 07-08 season include:
Metamucil, IcyHot, and Cialis

UofM forefited the championship game because they knew they were going to badly lose, once again to OCC. UofM players were not leaving for spring break till the next day, they just did not exhibit good sportsmanship in not completing the tournament. The "mess" in the "B" Division was caused by the MCRHL making "A" Division players play their first year of college hockey in the "B" Division with no chance of going to Nationals.

the team should be allowed to play.
They qualified, they played, they won!

I think that OCC is terrible and UofM did not want to waste their time on this glorified High School team...

Also, why is half of Easterns team old enough to be my grandpa? I mean they are good but aren't they a little old to still be in school?

GO BLUE!

How can OCC be sooooo terrible when they beat UofM and MSU "B" teams three times each this season?????? For a first year team, OCC is 16-0 overall and deserves a shot at Nationals.

It says "OCC", not the OCC hockey team. I mean the school is a glorified HS... leave it to an OCCer to get confused.

in just hanging around matteson yesterday, i heard several rumors that EMU was kicked out of the league for a good period of time because they were using players that were not enrolled in school this season... any truth to that?

paddymac
03-04-2007, 03:24 PM
They had a couple of players who were ruled ineligible by the NCRHA. These players were not allowed to play at regionals and the punishment was that EMU had to forefeit all games played with those players. As far as I know there was no further punishment and they will be at nationals since they won our tournament, giving them the auto-bid. Not sure I agree with it, or the precedent that it sets, but that was the decision the NCRHA made.

No, they are apparantly still able to play as "Team MPH."

According to the box scores, that's what they played with at regionals.
