Being somewhat in the know, I am fairly certain that is not the template for a new PIHA site.

Hey Ryan . . .I have seen the new site, it's going to be released soon, I don't know where you got that URL for the "new" site but thats definetley not it. I for one have seen the new site and it's much better than the old one, a lot more options and a much cleaner and more professional look. You'll all see it soon.

You are not correct Justin. This is in fact the work in progress site for PIHA.

Again Chris the site you saw was just one of a couple people were submitting to the league. The league opted to go with the one that was posted here on IHC.

Well, color me surprised. As a professional web designer myself, that site is a huge step backwards both aesthetically and technologically. A good web presence is as critical to a business today as an eye-catching storefront was to businesses before the information age.

I know it's not done yet, but based on the foundation it's being laid upon, I can already tell that it is certainly not going to represent a mature business very well.

Well I need to support whatever decision the league makes, as I'm sure they have there reasons for doing what they do. However I did try to point the league into the direction that I thought best, which is the site that a very small handful of people saw and are commenting on. The site I am refering to was created by Mike Burke of powerplaystats. That is the same web service as State Wars and the College site. Here is a look:

Correction - we no longer do State Wars (just did it for 2005) - that's www.pointstreak.com now.

Wow . .. than I'll have to agree with NAz on this one . ..that site is awful . . the one you showed me flynner looks phenomenal. Thats a real step backwards from the old site than. I apologize Ryan as I thought the powerplaystats site was the official site for PIHA.

Naz is right though, if you're trying to portray a professional business you shouldn't opt to go with a website that looks like a 4th graders computer project. I think Charlie, or whom ever is making this decision should seriously re-consider their choice on web design/provider.
Edited by vapor10 on 08/31/06 04:18 PM.

I second everything that has been said here. The original site has its flaws, but with more attention and maintenance, it wouldnt be a bad site. The "new" site looks like something made in an intro to web design course at a high school. Like Naz said, your website definately says a lot about your company. The website that anthony posted by powerplay stats looks clean and professional, and would be 1000 times better direction to move towards.

Another vote saying the "new" site isn't up to par with what it should be.

I think Mike is in the best position to do the job.....Its hard to compare our Inline hockey website to NHL, NFL, I would love to see our sport at that point.....I am sure we are eager as any other league that took over 100 years to finally be noticed....I can't color between the lines..so mike you are doing a great job. I like the blue.

i dunno, i know that the old one looked a lot better then the new one does... but whatever is better for the league is the one we should all go with and get on board with

If you know what you're doing, it really isn't all that hard to build a website the likes of the NHL, NFL, etc.

in order to preserve historical statistical data throughout the past 4 years of PIHA, id be willing to sell the database containing all of these stats to the league for a negotiable price.

of course, i cant stop anyone from copy/pasting the stats from the actual web page, but as any developer knows, having the database and its table structure may be somewhat easier to integrate into the data schematics of the new site. (or maybe even submit to HockeyDB.com, haha)

looking forward to the new digs, guys!

Actually kenny before you do that, I need another assist against the Mission Machine. Hope you didn't spend all that PIHA money from the first four seasons.

This site is a major dissipointment really I just went to the site www.thepiha.com and it is really really bad. I was kinda looking forward to something great but was left with this grade 8 computer project.

Good this better be a joke
