Bill Katinsky of the Growl...just kidding, my vote would go to Jay Mazer of the Harrisburg Lunatics. John Pinheiro of (formally of?) the Growl is also one of the faster skaters in the league. There maybe several younger or older players that play in tournament competition that could be faster. Thats like saying who is the fastest skater in all of ice hockey (not just the NHL). Its too broad a question.

Pro Division (torhs, narch) or Pro League (PIHA, MLRH) ?? Thats a tough topic, theres a lot of speed out there and not everyone sees everyone else. Rough one to decide, I can think of about a dozen players that would all be in the running on that one...some are known, others arent. Fast doesnt always mean a standout player either. Tough to say, and I cant vote for myself..makes it even tougher!! I'm gonna go out on a limb and score some points and say...Richard Graham?

I've played against just about everyone, and I'd have to say that the fastest skater I've seen was Jeff Nelson of Team Easton. The fastest skater now, in my opinion, is John Pinherio. He just seems to get faster & faster as he goes up the rink.

I thought Jake Cole of the Scottdale Inferno PIHA was the fastest, until I watched Jay Mazer out gun him. Jay has amazing speed for his age.

i know i am slower then anything, but my brother ray is pretty darn fast, he goes stride for stride with mazer everytime we play them... in my opinion he's a pretty underrated player in this league... auto-d

if we could ever get a true all-star weekend together, perhaps something like this could be determined with a skills competetion. There are several candidates for this. The fastest player ive seen is probably Mike Cianfrani. I dont know what kind of shape he is in, but he was always lightning fast. Pinhiero is quick, but i think its his first step that makes him that way. Stride for stride i think guys like mazer and davidson would beat him out. Some of those kids in scottsdale are quick for certain. perhaps next season we can figure all this out on the court. good topic!!!

I always thought that Sonny Kim was the fastest...or maybe it was an optical illusion because his jersey just flapped in the wind of it.

No Sonny was fast but the times have changed.

I cant narrow it down to just one but Mazer, Pinheiro, Christiano and Nicky Demoulis have to be near the top...atleast here on the East Coast. I know Jerry Osterkamp (SPELL?) has some go to his game.

Both Chivara's from Pama are lightning fast as well, also Tommy Neer has some wheels as well... it's too bad the Pro divisions at these tournaments do not have a skills competition... would be exciting to see some of these players go head to head

My choices from out west would be Kyle Amant and Oliver David... Not sure how much they get to play anymore since IHA went under.... I'm sure there are many other quick guys in CA, AZ, CO... etc...

the best part is that he's actually not kidding, in colorado and at marple for the torhs tourny, he was backchecking like there was no tomorrow, you can tell he just wants to win so late in his career...

That's exactly my point. You know my vision's not great - it's tough to see you 'backchecking' from the circles in the offensive zone.

throw in Adam Keplinger and Jake "The Snake" Werner as well
"The defenseman formerly known as #11"
I probably shouldn't post here on this..but it's too much for me to resist...I know I am a bit biased, but my son..Simon Egan....was the fastest inline skater I have ever seen...when he wanted to go...I have seen him chase Pinheiro down from behind on several occasions, and run away from Mazer too...Those of you who played against him might remember.
Nicky Demoulis did beat him in a one lap race...however not to diminish anything for Nicky...Simon had a charley horse that day from snow boarding the day before..so bad he could barely walk...and still only finished a half second behind, and second on the Wolves team.
Pardon the interuption...:)

You guys!!!!!!!!
Actually I have 4 PIHA goals to my credit unlike what the all time stats suggest - I scored three for the Marple Revolution in the minors a few years back
The Pro team was the Growl of course and it was against Kevin Callahan on the power play taking away from Bill's aweful, yet sort of on net wrister off a pass from Nick Squitieri
I was playing the front for an extremely (no pun intended) tired Ray Katinsky (he played most of the game) I think i gave myself two or three shifts
And Tro...I was wearing your jersey - so I have to brag like the big man that wore #9!! I did go after the ref and made sure like #99 but c'mon guys make all the fun you want....

Pinheiro is explosive. he gets up to speed very quickly same with Mazer. Jay does in 2 steps whay most of us do in 5 or 6. And i think both those guys are some of the fastest guys there are.

I have to back you up on this one Mike. I skated against Simon 1 year and have been his teammate for 2. I have to say he is either equal, or faster than any other speedster out there.
Hey Justin..thanks for the kind support....at my age you begin to wonder if stuff is all "just in your mind" sometimes..lol, and as a parent..your judgement is already well...."suspect"....
I think your post pertains to all roller hockey, not just Professional Inline Hockey, which you started this post under, no?
If so - I cast my vote for Mike Cianfrani of the Mission Snipers.
Steve Inge
quickest skaters:
John Pinheiro, followed by Mike Cianfrani, and then maybe Jay Mazer
fastest skaters...
Simon Egan, Nicky Demoulis(one race notwithstanding), Nick Squitieri(sp?)
Not to confuse quick feet with pure inline speed.
Brooklynite10
07-18-2006, 08:46 PM
Squitieri is my boy and a great player, but I wouldn't put him on this list. The other guys mentioned are some of the fastest guys, but it is impossible to really know who is the fastest unless there was a skills competition.
Brooklynite10
07-18-2006, 08:47 PM
I'm sure there are plenty others that agree.
I know nobody thinks of Nick as a "speedster", more because of his skating style..but I think he finished second in the PIHA skill competition a couple of years back..when Simon was playing for the Nike Breakaway team.
