Hey guys,
I just recently bought an inline rink. One of the isuues that has already popped up is a major problem. On humid days, which we get more than our share of in the summer up here in New England, the sport court gets very slick. Sometimes to the point of possibly cancelling games.
My question is this, is there anything we can do to reduce the impact that the humid air has on the playing surface? A little background on the current setup. As I mentioned, it is a sport court surface. The tiles are placed directly on top of the concrete floor. Would a moisture barrier between the two surfaces help things, or could that lead to a mold problem? I have had suggestions ranging from putting down Tyvek or plastic as a barrier to placing plywood between the surfaces. The rink is housed in an old warehouse that does not have any ai conditioning. There are a number of fans suspended from the ceiling that we run to keep the players cool in warm weather. Would running those for a few hours prior to gametime help the situation? Beyond these possible remedies, I'm out of ideas and that's what has prompted me to pose this question to you all. Any help or suggestions would certainly be appreciated.
