Hi Folks,

Ryan Durnan of Aviator Sports & Recreation in Brooklyn, New York, noticed that a lot of links in England and Europe from IHC's Clubs & Leagues section are out of date, and he wants players in those areas to know about the following event.

(If anyone in those areas can help me update those links, I'd appreciate that. Thanks!)

World Amateur Inline Hockey Series returns to the United Kingdom

Royal Sports International is pleased to announce the return of the World Amateur Inline Hockey Series to the United Kingdom. This year?s qualifier will be held July 8-9, 2006, at Deeside Arena, in Flintshire, North Wales. Last year?s qualifier was a great success and we look forward to seeing another great turnout.

The concept of the W.A.I.H.S. is much like the Little League World Series of baseball. Teams will qualify at regional events, 15 US and 5 International, for the World Amateur Championships to take place at the brand new sports complex, Aviator Sports & Recreation, on historic Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, NY, Sept 1-4, 2006.

US Regional winners will be put in one bracket and the International teams will be put in the other bracket and eventually the top US team will play the top International team for the title of World Amateur Champions.

Over 50 teams are anticipated to compete in 10u, 12u, 14u, 16u, 18u and Adult divisions. International qualifiers are currently scheduled for Eastern & Western Canada, the United Kingdom and Japan, with South Africa and South America qualifiers to be announced shortly. Countries where there are no qualifiers will be allowed to enter one team per age division without having to qualify based on a first come first serve basis.

The World Amateur Inline Hockey Series is sponsored by Mission Hockey, and supported by Rocket Puck, Black Biscuit , USA Clinics and in conjunction with Topcat Hockey, USA Hockey Inline, Misconduct Hockey League, and York Inline. More sponsors are expected to be named shortly.
