Hey, I am fairly new to inline hockey and want to understand the game better. Can some please tell me the positions on the rink and what each position does (e.g. defends, though doesn't go past half way) that kinda thing. I know that there are 4 positions (excluding the goalie) for players, could someone please explain?
Thanks

Generally they are listed as 2 forwards and 2 defensemen. Usually one d-man is considered an OD (offensive defensemen) and will generally join the rush as a third man.
In roller, it is not uncommon to rotate your players around, so the D may end up in the offensive zone while the O drop back to assume Defense. There are no positioning rules, because cycling the puck is the answer to winning this sport!

So what, is there a left and right forward and a left and right back? Where do they stand at the very start of the game? what should each player do? I need to know as much as I can about this, it is urgent!!! Which players usually do the face offs? which player will start the game at the centre dot? information!!

You have a forward take the face off with a Dman and the other forward at the red line. The second Dman posts behind. Once the puck drops, there really is not a right and left position as the players constantly rotate. You could say there is a right and left D, but the forwards usually will criss-cross and cycle around.
Perhaps your best bet is to spend a few minutes observing other teams in the sport. You sound like you have never experienced a roller hockey game before and now want to jump in!

also its not right left an offense defense its basicly man to man coverage, when the opposite team has the puck! when there is a turnover usualy 3 guys go into the zone leaving a D(stay at home)!

Yeah that sounds right, i think.
I was looking at Wiki, at it said that there was a centre, left wing, right wing and a D.
Also, who takes the face offs at the different circles? the centre, the back two and the front two.

There isn't really a center or wing there are just 2 forwards and you go whereever there is open space.....the better face off man takes the face-off.
SHUT UP AND PLAY.

Hope these definitions help.....
CENTER - Usually right handed shot that takes the faceoff. Trigger man with great shot.Offensive oriented, competitor - wants to be the go to guy. Solid charachter and great team player.
FORWARD - Left handed shot. Can play off wing. Offensive oriented with good defensive mindset. Patient and good decision maker.
SAFETY - Good transition player. Preferred right hand shot. Offensive minded defenceman or defensive minded forward. Great defensive qualities. Likes to jump into the play but not lead the rush. Big shot with one timer skills.
DEFENSE - Great defensive abilities, reliable in own end. Won't take risk chances. Great poise when moving the puck. Must be a good communicator. Smart, reliable and strong.

It really all depends on the team and the individual players abilities. I have a d-man on on of my teams that is also great on draws. I have HIM take the draws (in some instances) with the two forwards on the "wings". Then the other D man plays back...where a D would traditionally line up.
