This upcoming Saturday, at the Flyers Skate Zone, there should be some good hockey being played. The Minutemen stroll into town with the full knowledge that they're in the playoffs, and that they can beat their first round opponent, my team, the Growl, on any given day. I think both teams will be looking for any type of edge to head into the playoffs with. I expect a war, and I'm sure the place will be packed with Growl fans, to pump us up. Hey, come to think of it, that's an edge, right there. You can expect to see battles all over the rink, every second of the game. Nobody said winning is going to be easy, and rest assured, it won't be, for either team. I look for the line of Bobby Beauchamp and Billy Katinsky to pick up right where they left off this past week, and for this years scoring champ, Sean "sauce" Sullivan to have a great effort. I'm sure the Minutemen will love the confines of our adopted home rink, as it measures well to the style they play. I must admit, it's games like this one, that makes me wish I was 10 years younger. Hopefully, on Saturday, I can be, just for a couple of hours.

i agree the small rink will definitely make the MM feel more at home... this weekend should be a good preview as we will be battling them again the following weekend in a best of 3. i know troho and napolitano won't be eligible for playoffs which is a nice weight lifted cuz they were both big parts in that spilt a few weeks back...
for the growl i hope me and bobby can keep up from this past weekend, i finally broke out of my, seemingly lifelong, scoring drought and hopefully joey will be in his usual spectacular form. Sullivan, that's all i need to say about that... if jimmy finds a time machine he may even be of use to us ;)

Kinda lame that the playoffs are still being held in Mount Pleasant despite no teams from the area are in it. The travel for players is one thing, but how about the travel for fans. Are fans expected to travel 3-5 1/2 hours ?

Thanks for the compliment Jimmy, and just like last season, once the end of the season neared and the playoffs came, I turn my game up, lol. I don't know what it is, I have felt better and felt like I have been playing a lot better and differently ever since me and sauce showed up late to the minutemen game, lol, and Billy put the puck in the net a few times this past weekend, so it should be a fun couple weeks to see how well our team can match up with the other playoff teams. Congrats to the Minutemen for making the playoffs, you guys give us a hell of a battle in your rink, I expect the same in the small rink at the skate zone, as well as the small rink in scottsdale. I'll see everyone saturday.
By the way Billy and Joe D. I know the flyers r out, but the devils getting the go ahead goal wit 20 seconds left only to leave eric stahl open in front to tie it wit 4 seconds left and lose in OT. I thought the devils were better than that, Jimmy V is having sweet dreams now, lol

if they do end up there, its easy to differentiate them from the Flyers guys. Just look for the players with the 1995, 2000 and 2003 Stanley Cup rings.

sure I can answer that. Its called the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the Finals. If you root for any of the other local teams, you probably aren't familiar with these locations.

I don't consider them a local team. I still recognize them as the hapless Colorado Rockies. You can change the name all you want, but that is their true identity.

It's comical to me that the two guys in the league that are slower than I am, are the ones who poke fun at my supposed lack of speed... I have seen enough of Billy K. this year to feel confident against him in a foot race, as for Ying, the only way he would beat me, is if Jay Mazer was skating in front of us with a piece of double layer chocolate cake taped on his back. That would be motivation enough for Ying to beat not only me, but John Pinehro too...lol

Problem with that Jimmy...If there was a double layer chocolate cake on Jays back, Frank Frank would get icing on his hands.
